  1. Herro and Maxey are basically the same age. Neither player is at their peak. It's weird to assume Maxey will keep improving while saying Herro won't.

  2. If Maxey is so great and thought of so highly then why wouldn't he get the max offer?

Sorry, I'm not trying to be a turd lol just genuinely fascinated with the narrative behind all of this.

  3. Maxey is definitely getting the max next summer

No one thinks herro is bad, it’s just the heat fans constantly forcing this issue lol portland obviously just wants to add a lot of picks, they have guards they like and they want them to get playing time, they don’t want to get off dames contract and then have herro taking up 30m every year when he’s not needed. It’s pretty basic, common sense imo

I don't think it's an immediate accept for the Blazers, nor should it be. Just that Maxey's ceiling is higher because of his ballhandling and (imo) higher defensive upside compared to Herro

As a fan, I don’t want maxey or herro but maxey will be a much more flippable asset. I’d much rather tell dame to take a long vacation and not come back this season.

  7. Yeah, for sure. But that's why Miami has been offering Herro to a 3rd team, right? Portland gets all their picks and Herro finds a new home.

I'm also not exaggerating when I say that Maxey is one of the hardest working players I've ever rooted for, so I'm baking in some expected improvement that most people probably aren't counting on

  9. And by that logic, they don't need Maxey taking up 40-50m every season either.

Idk, I feel like if that was it then the trade would have happened already. The nets don’t have picks, the clippers still owe the thunder picks, what team that has their picks wants him? Those are the only two teams I’ve seen connected with him

  11. Also Maxey just shot 43% from 3 on 6 attempts a game.

I feel like that’s not mentioned enough from media.

Yeah I like Maxey more than Herro but I don't want either coming back to Portland if I'm their GM. Portland already has a young guard around that age that they need to flip in Simons, they don't need another one on top of that. Scoot and Sharpe are the future, everyone else has to go, they don't need to bring in more money.

The LeBetard thing is really disingenuous, the Blazers aren't getting better offers because Dame is trying to force his way to Miami. It has nothing to do with Woj smokescreens, Dame's saying he won't play anywhere else so Miami has leverage to not figure out a better package.

If I'm Portland I'd send him home and block Miami's number. Dame will crack before anyone else in this situation.

The best fit is probably still Brooklyn / Toronto, Barnes or Cam Johnson are at least potential long term fits next to Portland's young guards. I don't think either team wants to take on Nurkic's contract but that might be part of the price of admission to get Dame at this point.

I'm getting sick of the chatter but I am really curious to find out what happens with Jerami Grant.

  14. I think this deal has kinda made everyone a little crazy lol

It's pretty simple imo. Superstar player wants out and he has a specific desired destination. And he's determined to get there. Nothing we haven't seen before. As a result, Portland has, in their eyes, a less than desired offer on the table. Also, nothing we haven't seen before in these situations.

The smart thing for Portland to do is wait it out as long as it takes. I doubt the Heat offer will be any less at any point before Dame is moved. And it'll either be Dame caving and going elsewhere. Or Portland gets the same deal that's on the table now. No point is doing it now.

  15. Grant could easily be the third best guy on a title team. But with that deal, it makes it almost impossible for a contender to acquire him without moving quite a bit

The best chance would be if you can absorb other expiring contracts for more picks or something. I like grant though, and they kind of need him because outside of nurkic they’re a pretty small team

I also like the idea of Portland waiting until they get a deal they want. He was more than willing to sign those extensions and get that max money.

Dame only has a few seasons left, Portland can take as long as they want. Way more time pressure on him.
