eventually one of these agents has to find their spine and tell the player "fuck you, you can want to go to this place all you want, but their package sucks so it isn't happening." i get they don't want to burn the agent relationship but if the agent is telling you "fuck value, give my guy exactly what he wants" maybe it isn't a relationship worth maintaining

miami can't offer a package remotely close to what other teams can. if im portland im telling him fuck no and if he wants to sit out that's on him but not entertaining other offers just bc dame wants to be in south beach is so so stupid

Yeah it’s literally just Portland playing hardball because to get as much as they can. There’s a reason Woj is the only one saying “Portland doesn’t like their trade package and they’re going to look elsewhere” meanwhile every other media person is saying he’s probably going to end up in Miami

 

Also Tim Bontemps should not be a TV personality for ESPN. He is not very good at it lol

 

Gonna be interesting to see how it plays out. Woj does not seem to have a source inside of Miami. But he’s way more plugged into most front offices than someone like Shams. The fact he’s been pretty consistent with the reporting without changing up makes me think it’s at least plausible Dame ends up somewhere else

He also persisted on the Brandon Miller at 2 thing when everyone else was saying Scoot.

 

Also seems likely the entire deal depends on Herro. Portland probably told Miami to find a positive asset for flipping Herro that they can get in return

 

I think Herro is pretty underrated but I get why Portland doesn’t want him. It’s just redundant for them to add Herro. But I am surprised that the Heat are seemingly having trouble finding a third team to take Herro. He’s a legit asset whether you like his corny snarl or not lol

 

Portland should just wait till February when more teams and Dame are desperate

 

Like why wouldn't the Knicks throw a first and something to Portland and take Herro? Spurs, Jazz, OKC too. They aren't contenders right now but Herro is 23 years old. I'd think all 3 tams would be looking to add a young player like him.

 

The OKC thing is interesting because the Oladipo trade isn’t finalized yet so they could get looped in as a 4th team to help make it work.

 

We’ve literally gotten no info on potential deals from any other team. So I’m inclined to believe it’s just leverage for Portland to get more from Miami until we get anything more substantial other than “we’re going to talk to other teams”.

 

I beg of y’all to put zero stock into Summer League games.

I just remembered that to Portland’s big move to get Aldridge not to leave was trying to get Greg Monroe, and they couldn’t even do that lol it’s through the draft or nothing.
