I also find it very funny that the talking heads complain about things like "not enough star power" or "they don't draw big enough ratings" (this isn't just about the Nuggets, I'm talking about all teams, across all sports). You are the fucking MEDIA, YOU actually can dictate who gets talked about, who becomes a media darling and whatnot by GIVING THEM ATTENTION. Every single team could be a ratings draw IF YOU WANT

 

Outside of Boxing content (which Mannix is good at) he’s spent almost the entire NBA season farming interactions by primarily talking about the Lakers.


Spurs dynasty is a great example, but may have just been a product of the time with social media not existing how it was today. Nobody really cared. Those teams were beyond great. But it’s more likely you’ll hear about Tony Parker fucking someone’s wife nowadays.

So many of these national media dweebs have no interest in basketball, on what planet is a slapdash team from Los Angeles being dragged by a guy we’ve been watching drag teams for 20 years more interesting than a team headed to the finals for the first time ever lead by a kind of fat 7 foot guy obsessed with horses who may be a top 5 passer of all time and is currently the best player alive.

If these people would just admit they only like the nba for the reality tv component and would much rather talk about whatever lebron and steph are doing with their summers than the nba finals then I think we could have a much more honest discourse around the sport.
