Now this past season, he absolutely was bottom 5.

 

64% completion, 4000+ yards, 27TD/7INT is not bottom 5 QB stuff. His numbers were better than Brady's that season...and he was top 5 in TDs, top 10 in yards.

Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, Jameis Winston...those were bottom 5 QB seasons

 

They had 16 different oline combinations this past season.

 

Brandon Brooks tore his acl, Johnson is constantly suspended for roids, Peters is ancient and not good anymore and Kelce is not as good as he used to be either

 

Furthermore, is Indy really a better place for him receivers wise?

This is the first year Wentz didn't have an exceptional offensive line. It's fine for him to have a down year. It's not fine to have one of the worst years from a starting quarterback in league history, which is what he did

 

Considering he dragged 4000yds primarily out of Ertz, Goedert, and Sanders (Jeffrey was his leading WR at 490yds in 2019), I'd say it might not matter that much, but yeah, the PHI WR situation is impossible because they cant spend any money to fix their issues and are locked in on Jeffrey's corpse, etc.

Colts have the cap space to pick up a great free agent (and/or retain Hilton), Parris Campbell healthy, can use an early pick on a WR, etc.

 

It also should be noted that Wentz didn't really have a great 2019. He had a great December 2019. Before that he was below average

 

I mean, those guys sans Lane are pretty old now. Philly’s line isn’t really good anymore

Not thrilled to probably be moving a 1 for Wentz but, given the market, he seems like the best reasonable option.

 

Also I really hope this trade works out because I would love to not have to ride the QB carousel again next year

Wentz is gonna ball out with Reich and that Oline.

Eagles are gonna likely be back to riding the QB carousel for a bit. Hoping Hurts proves me wrong.

 

Yeah, if you look at the alternative, its paying Brissett too much to be mediocre or the same for like, Fitz. Or getting the 9th best QB prospect with that 3rd rounder. And if Wentz sucks early on, you can bench him and minimize the damage and keep it to a 2nd.

I agree, and I gotta imagine their holding the line at this deal is because they want to use their 1st rounder or FA to bolster their WR options.
