All I'm saying is of the Bucs 22 starters, 13 of them were drafted in the last 5 years, the lowest of those being a 4th round pick.

You would call that drafting well. Which is not “trade EVERYTHING for a gluttonous amount of this-year picks”

they still:

1) spaced out their contracts so not everybody had to be signed at once, providing flexibility to do things like sign Tom Brady while most these guys on defense approach their second contract. It made sense to be the team to sign 43 year old Brady because they could mitigate it and still keep the team’s talent together if it didn’t lead to a super Bowl.

2) Definitely had a veteran offense. Leonard Fournette, Chris Godwin are “young” players but they’ve each been in the league multiple years now. Mike Evans is a vet at this point. Their offensive line aside from Wirfs is 26-30 year old guys. Vets Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate at TE. Signed Antonio Brown. Etc etc. you’re overselling it. Brady having an offense that knows what the fuck they’re doing was huge for Brady coming there in the FIRST PLACE. No experienced offense, no Brady, no Super Bowl.

3) thus had enough of an established team culture so that no rookie thought he was above the team and above sacrifices and hard work. Even Devin White, who was an elite ass rookie that I WOULD trade up far for, had Lavonte David to learn from, essentially the best WILL linebacker of the previous generation.

 

There have been several times when I’ve been a silly man making silly arguments but I feel like I’m at least being very logical here.
