In regards to football related, been watching these even though they are from a week ago with Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, and Wilson. Really grew me as a fan of Romo. Also, I never realized Romo’s bottom lip looks like he has dip in lol.

 

I’m just kinda over the whole discussion. I don’t think it’s 100% fact that those players will pan out and I don’t think that it’s 100% fact that blowing it up in 4 years would lead to a good team either. To me it’s more about the culture and the system than just the talent in a vacuum. It’s about trends, not just static data values. If you keep hodgepodging freshly drafted teams, and sharply cutting bait with any tenured players every time you fail to make a Super Bowl run, in my opinion it’s going to be very hard to have a team that knows how to gel, that knows how to read other teams’ tendencies and pick up subtle cues. The context of all those rookies going to the same team instead of each individually getting a different set of vets and coaches to learn from makes me think it’s less likely they’d all hit their potential.

I also think it could introduce challenges in terms of egos conflicting, with every one of those early-picked college players individually seeing themselves as a superstar and naturally being mostly immature because they’re 20 years old. They feed off each other’s energy in that sense and I think in spite of all that talent... it’s mental toughness and the humility to be accountable to mistakes, where they’d lose games without that clear culture and leadership in place. I mean these are the reasons I’m bracing for Trevor’s first two years to be bad because we really are building from scratch, there’s so many variables.

Especially since I’m studying probability right now, I’m seeing that the more variables you introduce the less reliable of a data set you’ll have and the lower probability on a specific successful outcome. Or like the stock market, if you buy all the meme stocks when they’re in their hype phase that’s the fastest way to lose money. That’s kinda how I view having too much entropy with strategic moves. And I don’t think you and @CarpetElf are dumb for disagreeing and thinking teams should grow a pair and do it. You’re right that it hasn’t been done before and it’s not an objective fact that it wouldn’t work. It does take some cavalier risk taking to win championships.

But I also have a lot of reasons, some of which hard to explain because I’m a very math minded person, why I think that projection and reality get further apart the more you invest in projection.
