If rookies are overvalued why do the future picks even matter?

If you want the vets, wouldn't you want the rookies now so they become vets sooner?

What's stopping this team from having great cap flexibility because you can sign vets for the next three years insanely cheap and have a stacked roster and then you get your picks back for depth in four years anyway and you know what guys are and aren't elite.

Bias towards college players you think are gonna be good, which for you tends to override every other frame of logic about putting a team together for the NFL.

its fine to like the idea of blowing it up and going young on a regular basis but that doesn’t mean you have to be haughty about it when I disagree because of, idk, literally all of the other context and the fact that teams who try to do that usually stay sucking.

 

I usually give it a watch through every draft year lol.

Building through the draft and FA long term, not all at once. Because spreading out contracts and resources matters, and so does a healthy balance of that youth with some veteran continuity.

 

because when losing teams have tried to do a fraction of something that crazy it’s usually ended up being a bust and led to more losing. Obviously nothing of that magnitude has happened but there’s a reason why teams are deterred from being that aggressive all at once

 

So let's say, hypothetically. It's, 2012.

And the Colts draft, Luck, Richardson, Blackmon, Kalil, Claiborne, Barron, Kuechly, and Gilmore.

That's over 50% busts. The next four drafts they drafted exactly 1 pro bowler, Ryan Kelly.

Would you trade Kuechly and Gilmore for Ryan Kelly?

 

Also @EntryLevelDave you did nothing wrong I’m mostly annoyed that every time I think @CarpetElf is galaxy braining a little bit he turns it around on me and acts like I’m the ridiculous one.
