There are 7 picks in a normal draft per team, we just picked NINE. We have the second largest amount of cap space and can literally just sign 2 year deals

Look at any draft and almost all of them have some top 10 picks bust. Like. It’s fine to think that’s a fun scenario and all but just admit that it’s not realistic and it would probably pan out nowhere near as well as we are hyping these players

What I mean is, winning right away with that team is not realistic

keeping that team together and having an answer for injuries is not realistic

even if it happened the outcome wouldn’t be what y’all are assuming

All I'm saying is I'd rather have 9 of the top 10 guys right now than 32 of the top 1020 over four years.

 

Good for y’all lol. I think having enough picks to draft quality / affordable depth long term is just as important as getting good players at the top because the salary cap and injuries are not minor obstacles, those two things fuck with every team... and are the exact weakness of a team that chases too much top end talent at once.

Let’s also not act like veteran leadership isn’t an important part of players panning out in the first place. That’s how they learn how to watch tape and recognize tendencies, that’s also how a lot of immature players learn to treat football like an every day job. I would say that’s an underrated part of rookies panning out or not, learning by example what it takes to be consistent in the league. A too young team is gonna lack that and have off-games because of it.

Good thing you can sign veterans. You can't draft them though.
