Kwity Paye for example is not a generational talent. Idk if I’d take him in the top 10 even if I didn’t trade up. He’s a crazy athlete but he’s still kinda shabby on the fundamentals. Could still end up very good though, reminds me of Ziggy Ansah, but trading up FAR for a projection-based talent seems reckless.

love Kyle Pitts but trading to 5 for a TE who still needs to learn how to block is awful tactics

That’s weighting the rookie class too much, and betting that they’ll all pan out strong. A team full of rookies, that hasn’t seen enough tape or developed enough chemistry with their teammates to respond to meta-strategy, is not winning the superbowl lol.

also, a team with no depth because they traded away all their assets for several years is not winning the Super Bowl. This scenario also ignores the very real reality of injuries and the fact thin teams lose a lot of games from not being able to adapt to injury issues. No picks the next 4 years means no capable backups to step in.

I’m not being that subversive lol. Getting 9 top 10 picks when there’s maybe 3-4 generational prospects is a fun concept but legitimately a horrible strategy

free agents cost much more than people on rookie deals. We’d have to sign a lot of people who aren’t good enough to be backups elsewhere onto vet min deals because anybody who has the ability to play in a starting lineup is asking for more. Which would eventually hurt our ability to extend young talent. Free agents can’t fill a whole roster.
