I’m surprised the Steelers are really being this stupid about the QB position haha. Chicago had like no draft Capital. Pitt could’ve easily had Justin Fields if Chicago could. Sitting behind Ben in Tomlin’s scheme and throwing to Juju and Claypool in practice would be so ideal for him.

 

Really glad to see they didn’t pick up year 5 on Sony. I don’t think the pick is a “bust” since he did help them win a Super Bowl, but I don’t think he’s part of what helps us win the next one.

 

The $6-7mil number seems wrong to me, but I guess looking back on last years numbers its about right ($6.7mil I believe), so yeah, I dont get not doing that. We have a TON of space in 2022 ($75+ mil), and while the 5th year options are now fully guaranteed, like 95% of the Steelers S snaps are played by Minkah and Edmunds. And if he has a great 2021, the transition tag is $10ish mil and I think a franchise is nearly 2x what the 5th year option would have been.

Villanueva is good backup LT assurance for Ronnie Stanley. Still would like to see Tyre Phillips at RT after a full training camp + preseason but we shall see. Having Nick Boyle back at TE should help Phillips some in pass protection and Phillips is already a much better run blocker at this point than Villanueva.

 

$7mil annually would be alot for a backup

Yeah, that that price, wouldnt have wanted him back on the Steelers with what we do. I think it makes sense for the Ravens since there is a chance Stanley isnt ready for Week 1.

Rookie year started 9 games, 64%, 11td 5 int. Yard per attempt isn't great but is that his fault or the plays called?

 

I think its mostly a meme but there are plenty of people who think he actually isn't good for whatever reason

No offseason because of his injury/Covid, terrible weapons (Mack Hollins was WR1 for multiple weeks), terrible play calling and his numbers STILL were actually decent.

All that being said, he does need to be better in 2021....especially with the weapons we added and the beefed up OLine

 

People talk about Tua like he's Darnold or Wentz after 9 games. It's kinda weird.
