I would honestly be unhappy with this draft overall if it didn’t come with Lawrence. Lawrence tilts it and I can’t complain about getting a QB like that.

Just really hoping we get 2018 Little and Cisco. If that happens, I’ll give this draft a B in retrospect, because they looked like they’d be top prospects at their positions before injuries. Pure talent wise, I could see an alternate reality where a healthy Little goes in the same range as Darrisaw, and a healthy Cisco goes right after Grant & Moehrig.

If the two of them don’t pan out and/or they have injury problems as pros... this draft is a “C” and that’s being generous because of the Lawrence pick.

Best possible scenario: this is the draft that proves that medical science has advanced to the point where injury concerns only slightly damage draft value. And players like Jaelan Phillips (and, regrettably for me, Caleb Farley) end up having good careers.

I wish it was possible to have NFL without injuries. Just turn them off like in Madden. Reserve / third string players compete at lower level leagues like in NBA and MLB

I had another former student (and now my assistant coach) join the cards a few years back but he didn’t stick on the final roster. Vic has a better shot.

Scott Fitterer’s first draft class. He knocked it out of the damn park. I know that some of these will ultimately end up as duds but you can’t help but be excited about this group of players.

He also picked up a 4th next year which we had lost in the Darnold trade. We basically gave up a future 2nd rounder for him which could still blow up in our face, but that’s not a bad price for a potential starting QB.

Can’t wait for training camp.

 

Garrett Wallow was a great pick. Roy Lopez and Patrick Johnson too
