Yeah, and you’re ignoring all of the context involved by comparing the two situations. Are you literally just repeatedly ignoring that post or what

The context is irrelevant......I'm saying what happened, not why

Yeah I’m just saying it’s weird teams are ignoring Phillips injury history, when Myles Jack said two words he should’ve kept to himself and dropped a whole round. That’s weird is it not? Haha

Like I think Myles would’ve been a first rounder all day even with the torn meniscus if he didn’t suggest he might need a very serious surgery in a haphazard way. If it’s something the doctor says you “might” need “later down the line” then let team doctors make that evaluation, don’t just blurt it out in an interview lol

so then Phillips just openly has all these injuries and everyone still thinks he’s a first rounder haha

New drinking game for the rest of the thread. Anytime Randall accuses Matt of ignoring context, we drink.

Yeah you're right all injury concerns have the same impact on every player regardless of the nature of the injury

    lol

oh my god randall you can't be on some dumb shit and be snarky.

this is about the people in the media diminishing concerns over something the nfl takes seriously. if myles jack fell cause of his concerns, phillips is damn sure gonna fall too. that's it. that's all. that's the post. move on lol

Right. And I'm saying, Jaelan Phillips was actually medically forced to retire from one college, while Jack merely mentioned something in passing that was not going to be even relevant for several years, let alone decent chance it's not even happening at all. So it's weird to even compare the two.

Myles Jack fell because of misinformation, players heal from a torn meniscus all the time and it was his only injury, and it happened in September so he was available for a Pro Day workout. It made no sense that he still fell. Phillips more directly is an "extensive injury concerns" prospect whose injury risk is well-documented and undeniable.

I don't get why you're so mad about me pointing out a legitimate, huge distinction between the two. I think my point is really obvious.

Because what happened after is irrelevant!!!

How do we know Phillips didn't get misinformation?

  18. I didn't read any of the argument to be honest but the constant piling on Randall makes me think he is right more than he gets credit for

I’m going to try to explain myself one more time. If this doesn’t point out the distinction I’m making then I give up.

The only way to compare the situations would be if Phillips had only one concussion and that’s it and everyone was afraid it was worse than it sounds.

he had 3 concussions, a really invasive wrist surgery that may never heal all the way, and also has a litany of ankle injuries. He had a good Pro day but even before teams do any digging into how bad the injuries actually were, that’s already A LOT.

Myles had a prolific and healthy first two years, tore his meniscus in September, it healed fine, his pro day showed outstanding fluidity for a linebacker. Then myles Jack’s doctor came out BEFORE the draft and said the report was bullshit. He said it was based on a small chance of an unlikely surgery that, even if he needed it, would not happen for 7-10 years.

Jags brass straight up said they devoted a lot of resources to see if the injury scare held weight and that they found nothing to indicate it wasn’t a false alarm... they considered him in the first if Ramsey was gone and were shocked he fell.

These are entirely different situations. Myles Jack’s injury concerns were erroneous, spawned from one single injury that commonly heals, and not based on the actual prognosis of his meniscus tear - which got cleared up before the draft even happened. In Jaelan’s case he already has had enough concrete injury issues to where even if extra research reveals nothing new, he still by all means is likely to fall. It’s bad enough as is even without an overblown pre draft freak out.

You are not being misunderstood. I know the distinction you are trying to make. And I keep telling you that distinction is not relevant because I was making an incredibly generalized statement as to how the media does not clue into injury concerns of players. Jesus.

I’m not like being a dick haha. I’m just saying that the media usually does take injuries seriously, and in fact they seem more likely to blow it out of proportion than anything, so it’s weird they don’t treat Phillips the same way and they act like it’s no big deal.

that’s the worst part is I agree with your overall point!! but I saw Myles Jack as a different thing cause his lone injury was healed and fine and nothing out of the ordinary.. and yet everyone still freaked out over that one interview he did.

    it was basically like
Myles Jack’s doctor - “whoops, he misspoke and people are really overreacting. He’s not injured.”

the NFL - “INJURY CONCERNS CROSS HIM OFF DRAFT BOARDS”

Jags - “sure I’ll make Dave Caldwell’s best draft pick of his career if you’re gonna make it that easy”

I want to make this fair but Randall has more catchphrases. What does Matt say that should cause onlookers to drink?
