you never know - recent history has been pretty kind to QB purgatory teams

Cowboys going Romo -> Dak, Chargers going Rivers -> Herbert, and Ravens going Flacco -> Jackson are the ones that stand out that were particularly good of teams replacing long time QBs to potentially avoid purgatory. The Giants going from Eli to Jones is still TBD (though I would have argued at the time that they forced it), and the Broncos losing Peyton are the only ones that are still firmly in that boat 3+ years later.

The Panthers seem to be in a good spot to replace Cam this year, and we’ll see about the Colts, Patriots, and Saints this year and Steelers and Bucs shortly, but I’d guess that they don’t all get stuck there for too long

I’m honestly still interested in writing about sports stuff. Me and @CarpetElf have secretly been doing a lot of collaboration on draft and NFL season analysis. We might drop a pretty comprehensive blog post / website this summer. Nothing crazy just literally for fun / as a hobby.

im not even thinking on that grand of a scale tbh. I’m thinking more so the really early phases when I visited you in NJ and started writing scouting reports. I really just wanna treat it like a hobby and see what happens. If it ends up just being something I share with friends and family that’s fine with me.

 

Like I def plan to be clear that film study & context / pattern recognition is a big part of my writing. If I had the responsibility of having to be as objective as possible and rely mostly on hard statistics it might be too much pressure and not my style.
