Haha, all (probably) true, that’s why I hope it doesn’t happen. I also just don’t see Turner being into Mac for his offense.

Consider this - the tight end position is not remotely what it used to be and has evolved greatly and the reason there arent many HOF TEs is cause most of them arent eligible

I still think Bucky’s take is a pretty awful take. “Gold jacket talent” lol

we will see in 2023. If both Witten and Gates get in easy then maybe a lot more TE are gonna start getting in, in general. But I kinda feel like even they are gonna be waiting for years. And no one has yet come close to those top 3 players - Sharpe is still #4.

Oh well yeah anyone talking HoF about any player on a rookie contract or yet to be drafted is wild and dum

eventually? Yes. First, second, or third ballot? Kinda doubt it, maybe Witten cause he played for a really popular team.

and even Witten / Gates is a high bar to project Pitts to, considering Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham wont even come close to those numbers.

Gonzo is also the GOAT so using him as a metric is weird af

yeah that’s why Pitts is getting too much hype lol. Gonzo was the only TE since Mike Ditka you could say was the best player of his draft*

*and it’s between him and Orlando Pace so it’s not even an easy call

Okay one guy saying something literally no one else thinks isnt him overall getting too much hype but also, I meant using Gonzo as a metric for HOF TEs

But I’m saying, the only TEs who have made the HOF typically are the ones you can legitimately say were the best of all time when they retired. If it’s this hard for receivers to get in, imagine TEs.

and there’s a lot of publications saying shit like this haha

Theres not a lot of publications saying hes a hall of famer haha.

And I already addressed the TEs of the past thing.

    Graham, Olsen, Davis maybe.

I think Witten will get in on the second or third year he's eligible and Gates will get snubbed for years because he played for a small market team.

Gronk will get in because of the superbowls, Kelce is headed that way for sure.

Graham will get snubbed because of injuries and the fact that he wasn't nearly as dangerous by the time he was 30.

So basically I agree with Dave's list, but not the "without breaking a sweat" part. I think none of them are probably first ballot unless Kelce keeps dominating and doesn't slow down at all in the next 4-5 years

Gates, Gronk and Kelce are prob first ballot maaaaaybe second ballot if it’s a crowded list.

That list only getting more crowded every year though! Especially when it comes to receiving weapons! You can't give them ALL credit when the NFL also just became more of a passing league.

Why can't we give them all credit?

Because then you have a longer and longer backlog, since you can only have a set number of inductees per year into the HOF. So then you have to raise the bar for what it takes to get in.

I feel like HOF is somewhat adjusted for, how good they were compared to other weapons in the league at the time. If you were a steady 1100-1200 yard receiver at your peak, among 10 other 1200 yard receivers in your era, that doesn't mean as much as it did for previous HOF inductees. When you adjust for modern numbers it's not as much of an outlier.

I think Gronk, Gates and Kelce are incredibly special compared to their peers in both the modern and previous eras lol

Over the last 10 years the average # of TE's with 1000 yards each season is... two.

Hence why I said those 3 probably get in. And Witten. The rest of the guys we're discussing? I think the fact that there's 4 TEs who are probably in the HOF in the next 15 years makes it nearly impossible for everybody else. Since they're in competition with all other position-groups as well.

I said receiver, as in wide receiver. It was an example.

Randall pick a lane. Are TE's receivers and lumped in with them, or are they separate entities all together.
