I really like it, too. It's nice as a quick guide of who is what position on the field. But I also think some are limiting, like WR, which often has 3-4 players on the field a time, but only 20 available numbers is weird, but RB's might have 30 available numbers but only 1 player on the field.

I do to an extent, but I think the thing that’s gonna bother me most in the short term is having to re-learn the Colts’ player numbers if someone like Darius Leonard went from 53 to 5

 

Baseball’s started as being assigned based on their spot in the order, I think (like the lead off guy would be 1, etc). It was either that or by position (like the catcher would be 1)

 

Some numbers are gonna stick around because they work so well.

54 - LB
24 - CB
80, 84, 81 - WR

Some numbers will shift because they're stupid

 

88 and 89 are the best receiver numbers
