I mean, in trade value, they basically gave up a 2022 1st. Feels like these teams always get cute and include 3 picks when just 1 pick would make more sense.

    Same.

He was a beat guy in Jacksonville for a few years, I remember him being pretty reliable.

  3. I don’t think this means he will be released. I mean, he could be, but a trade is definitely possible.

Hadnt considered that connection...though as was pointed out earlier, far and away Anderson's worst numbers came under Darnold.

This is why I'm really glad we didnt trade for him. 5th year options are fully guaranteed now, so if he flops this year, the Panthers have $23mil in money tied up in not having a QB

$10mil of Bridgewaters salary is guaranteed and $10mil signing bonus accelerates if hes cut. There is a 0% chance they release him.

Could see him getting traded during a training camp injury

If we still had Samuel I would be more optimistic about this working. I hope they get a little more creative with using CMC instead of having him just run up the middle for 2 yards 20 times.

I agree with all of this, btw. I dont even think you can argue outright that the Panthers got better...only guarantee is if their QB fails, he'll be younger when he does so.

Send Teddy to Denver. Can't be worse than Drew I would imagine.

  10. It’s definitely a risky deal but I’m excited to see what Brady can do with a QB that fits his system better. Could go poorly but we were going to be taking a risk with whatever QB we acquired. Whether it was the 5th best QB in a draft or paying an even higher price to move up for the 4th best QB in a draft.

Being a Panthers fan sucks. Hope they draft a QB.

Can they even get anything for Teddy? The entire league knows they're done with him.

Teddy cannot possibly have any value

    (:

Is Teddy really worth giving up anything?

    The rivalry is back on

The flip side is “they had a fully mediocre QB option and made no attempt at improving at the position.”

The trade didn’t definitely improve the QB position for them, but Darnold + whatever elite prospect they add at 6 is probably the best combination of upside and roster improvement they had available to them, considering the alternatives of trading the pick + a bounty to move up, trading a future 1 for Jimmy G, and holding pat and banking on either Teddy to make major strides in his age 29 season

Teddy is an A+ backup QB. Is his value really that low?

...the new england patriots will take exactly one teddy bridgewater in exchange for a 5th round pick please and thank you.

The 88.5% completion percentage has to be wrong. Robby Anderson has a single game as a Jet over 80% catch rate (1 catch on 1 target for 41yds). For him and Darnold to be at 88%, it'd mean every other throw Darnold made in his career to other players was incomplete, basically.

Robby's got 54% and 55% catch rates as a NYJ, I'm betting thats more accurate

The strongest argument I'll make for the trade is that its probably less than they'd have given up to get the 4th best QB in this draft if they traded up to get him...and Darnold is probably as likely to bust as whoever is the 5th best QB. And as this points out, if they want to drop down to the 10-15 range, they can get most of these picks right back.

But I'd still be really worried that you just traded 8-10% completion rate for like 8-10 deep balls in the season. I think I'd have willingly given up just a little more for Jimmy G, whose floor and ceiling are both higher...but of course I'd know the risk he snaps in half before ever playing a game
