I take all PFF grades as a grain of salt. At best it’s an anchor I can use for players I haven’t studied (like OL) and then I adjust my opinion from that anchor based on further research

then you’re calling a play that IS a screen, NOT a screen.

 

it doesn't matter what the play was called as - they're recording the number of times he threw a screen, not the number of times a screen was called

 

watching film and coming to a conclusion about each player you watched / noting tendencies. Yes. It’s what me and you do if we just added in a grading system where we mark positive, neutral, or negative plays

 

PFF isn’t this wild enigma lol. It’s people watching plays and grading the players performance on each play. It’s not rocket science

Yeah... I’m getting a degree in data analytics right now. Why do you think this is so above people like us? The vast majority of PFF stat collectors, especially before they gained enough publicity to include ex-NFL folks, are not ex NFL folks. The site is mostly comprised of sports nerds who wanted stat collection to be their jobs. I remember them openly reaching out with job applications one time, not sure why I didn’t actually follow through
