I just put on a Nelly song and lmao it sounds so out dated. Did not age well

Ludacris, however, arguably holds up even better now than he did then lol

Further evaluation rearranges draft boards. It’s not that wild of a concept.

Usually players get hyped early based on having a really good arm and performing well in high pressure situations, which is the first step to being a good QB. But then teams take a deeper dive into the film and pay attention to what each good arm / pressure-composed QB lacks as it gets closer to the draft.

But it’s not like there were new things to evaluate. It’s just hype and narrative shifts the board.

Yeah. Idk. I didn’t know much about him until the NFL season was over and I started scouting and my immediate opinion was “hmm. Ohio State really did make it very easy for him not to have to make any hard decisions.” And for me personally that always introduces doubt into the equation. Half of an NFL QBs attempts (maybe less for more creative coaches - like, a quarter if you play for Shanahan or Payton) are going to be hard decisions. Decisions where making the wrong call can lead to a turnover or at least getting stumped on third down.

if there wasn’t a Wilson or a Lance that doubt might not be as big a deal, in a shallower QB class I would value a Fields- like prospect more probably

Well sure, you’re a human living a life. I refuse to believe a NFL scout didn’t start scouting until the season was over lmao. The season ended and he was consensus #2 or 3 at most and then the random world of hype trains and fake ass pro days come in and now he’s 5!?

I’m also super open to the idea of players fit some schemes but never has the mock draft process been more stupid than this year with these quarterbacks.

I think I tend to doubt QB’s from simple / gimmicky offenses because of my early Gator fandom. UF had a slew of Heisman QBs who sucked in the NFL lol

Danny Wuerffel and Tim Tebow won Heismans and broke SEC records, Rex Grossman was a Heisman finalist and good enough to be drafted early (Didnt the Bears take him in the first?) and they were all terrible NFL quarterbacks because Spurrier and Meyer operated really cheeky offenses with built-in misdirection on almost every play. Worked brilliantly in college, but that stuff is not enough on its own to fool defenses at the next level and the QBs ended up behind in terms of going through progressions.

I guess I just don’t think it’s stupid cause I agree with it hahaha.

I mean, Fields is probably better long term than Mac Jones - if they both had ideal development arcs, then Fields would end up with higher potential for sure. I’m not a huge Mac Jones fan. He’s who you settle for if you pick too late to trade up.

but right now, if you’re trying to make sure you get somebody with a high floor who won’t set your franchise back? Yeah Fields is the most risky pick. High risk high reward.

There is a chance Fields could pan out while for example, Lance doesn’t, for sure. I’m not psychic. They both have great traits and both have risk factors. But right now Lance is definitively above Fields on my board.

Right now Lance and Jones understand more about how to play QB scheme-wise than Fields, while fields is demonstrably Faster than either of them and probably an even better arm than Lance (but not by much)

i wonder where this is on his body. Including the score seems kind of misplaced imo and maybe it’s the image or the angle of his body but it looks like the tattoo is at an angle? Idk but not surprised he stuck to his word!

I liked his Pro Day. He does have elite speed, arm strength, and accuracy. And his footwork is actually pretty clean. Fundamentals and athleticism wise you can clearly see why he generates a lot of hype.

so keep in mind I’m not saying he’s bad, just he has more football strategy to learn than the other two quarterbacks after not really getting a chance at GA and then playing in a very simple offense at OHSt. More to learn means more risk you won’t become good fast enough for the team to commit to you within 3 years. But obviously he COULD learn a lot in that time frame, just feels less guaranteed
