if they trade it to Detroit and they take a QB I'm gonna punch myself in the eye

I don’t think “he lacks athleticism” is an unfair comment. That doesn’t mean “he can’t play quarterback” it just mentions something he lacks that affects his style of play.

namely, a good offensive line is more vital for him than an athletic QB because he needs to be able to rely on the pocket.

    Also
    1) 4.7 isn’t that fast for a QB anymore - now we have defenses who are prepared to deal with mobile QBs who run 4.4-4.5.
    2) measurements still don’t mean he’s good at scrambling haha. Scrambling is a skill itself, requires more than just speed

I mean, there’s no one to trade above that early. Cincy / Miami aren’t taking a QB. And we seem very bullish on the idea that Detroit isn’t either

I think it makes way more sense for teams to try to trade up to 7 than to 4, probably costs a little less

it’s whatever I dont keep receipts. I’ll probably forget to Jim face if this happens like usual lol

4.7 is definitely a good speed for a QB still lol

Not really... Derek Carr ran 4.6 and I wouldn’t call him a good scrambler. Having a big body and running 4.6 is very good (Cam Newton) but if you’re not big then you have to be so much more elusive to escape the rush

4.7-4.8 was a good time for a QB when that was also a good time for a LB or DE.

Now it seems most LB and more than a handful of DE run 4.6 or better so the QB doesn’t have those same matchup advantages scrambling.

5 QBs in the NFL ran a sub-4.6 and 3 of them are bad.

    Aaron Rodgers: 4.71u
    Ben Roethlisberger: 4.75u
    Josh Allen: 4.75u
    Carson Wentz: 4.77u
    Dak Prescott: 4.79u
    Patrick Mahomes: 4.80u
    Matthew Stafford: 4.81u
    Jared Goff: 4.82u
    Baker Mayfield: 4.84u
    Kirk Cousins: 4.84u
    Sam Darnold: 4.85u
    Matt Ryan: 4.89u
    Jimmy Garoppolo: 4.9
    Tom Brady: 5.28u

difference between 4.6 and 4.7 is pretty massive.

4.6 is the requisite speed for a lot of positions. And in those positions, 4.7 is considered too slow to the point where it sets off alarms and moves guys down draft boards.

Lamar Jackson Didnt run the 40 so you’re missing at least one big example

yeah okay and all of those QBs did. So that literally proves you wrong lol

Aaron Rodgers wins with savvy and timing when he runs, he’s not “fast”. He really mostly just has a really good sense of when to escape the pocket. Which is very different from running a good time.

Also, this was counting Lamar's pro day.

almost every QB you listed is slow as molasses

Josh Allen being the key exception, and he is 6’7” so like I said being big helps

    The panthers and broncos?

I wouldn't say they are slow as molasses. Some of them. but even so, if the vast majority run a 4.7 or slower, then you are objectively wrong to say 4.7 is a bad time lol

40 time is also one aspect of athleticism.

We saying Mac Jones is a better athlete than Patrick Mahomes?

I didn’t say it was a “bad time”. YOU said it was a “damn good time” and it’s certainly not that

    edited to say just good*

4.7 is a fine time for a QB.

When you hit a mothafucka, you hit that mothafucka Prestigious

Yeah “fine”. It’s not “good” haha. It’s not the kind of time that guarantees a dude can escape the rush pursuing him from behind

  23. CarpetElf

chorus's #3 oklahoma city comets fan Prestigious

People with slower times can do that.

4.7 is literally an above average time. It is objectively good by that metric.

The QBs in your list that ran 4.7 but still are mobile, do so becuase they either have elite pocket presence (Rodgers / Mahomes for example) or because he’s 6’7”, breaks tackles, and every step is 3 yards and every dive is 8 yards (Josh Allen)
