if you have the same grade on a CB or a TE and you're the Dolphins, you should be taking that TE. I let need be the tiebreaker, personally.

    The rivalry is back on

just for fun, here’s WR6 vs TE1 over the past 5 years

2020: Brandon Aiyuk vs Cole Kmet
2019: JJ Arcega-Whiteside vs TJ Hockenson
2018: Anthony Miller vs Mike Gesicki
2017: Juju Smith-Schuster vs OJ Howard
2016: Michael Thomas vs Hunter Henry

I’d take the WR 4 years out of 5

As the top safety? Idk, I need to watch more of him but I've got quite a few above him

back to talent evaluation though haha. Also TE usually has a high curve, especially compared to WR, who usually have one of the lowest, so it's a hard thing to compare.

i just generally look at what’s gonna be harder for opponents to respond to. If I’m the Jets I really seriously consider Penei Sewell. Doesn’t matter if conventional wisdom tells you not to just draft two OTs. Becton / Sewell would give the Jets a long term advantage that hardly any other team (if ANY) has! The threat of opposing DEs would be subdued every time they play the Jets. Becton is obviously a huge ascending talent and Sewell is obviously a generational prospect. I wouldn’t consider it under any lesser circumstances, but this is their only real chance to have two amazing tackles.

@CarpetElf in your Dolphins scenario... if it’s mid round, yeah I take the TE. But if you’re talking about an elite TE prospect vs an elite CB prospect, I take the CB all day and have two shut down guys between Howard and the new guy. Because that ultimately represents a stronger competitive advantage.

context is everything, there are no one size fits all rules about draft value except that you better get your QB, OT, and EDGE early if you need em, and you better avoid K / P / FB cause they’re relatively easy to find undrafted.

Outside of that, anything is feasible depending on the factors.

If you made it your pick in hindsight of TE1 through TE3 in a draft and WR6 through WR8 in a draft, it’d be a bloodbath in favor of the WR position. Or even, I think it’d still be overwhelmingly in favor of WR if you picked the middle player in terms of success on both of those ranges so you’re dropping out the good and bad ranges. The point being that, on average, you’re getting a much better player with the 6th WR in the draft than the best TE (just because that was the counter-example given)

Dolphins TE trio put up the best #s by any TE trio in Dolphins history and they are all signed for next year

I highly doubt they take a TE high

    The rivalry is back on

sure, but that’s a rare case and that’s probably not happening this year

let’s use the Dolphins’ first as an example (pick 18). Let’s say the draft for the first 17 picks goes by the books compared to The Draft Network’s Big Board.

I would recommend they take whoever they like most of Terrace Marshall (20), Rashod Bateman (23), or Kadarius Toney (24) over Najee Harris (21) or Zaven Collins (19), since all are at positions of need and they can fill one of those need positions at a premium position with that pick. If they sign a big WR and draft one with their first pick and WR is no longer a position of need, I’d hope they’d look long and hard at one of the EDGE players on the board like Ossai or Rousseau, or maybe grabbing Jalen Mayfield and shifting someone in to guard. If none of those guys check the box or there’s something about Harris that puts him alone in their top 10 on the board, then sure, go with him. That’s the kind of thought process I’d expect that would hopefully lead to more premium position picks than not

Zaven Collins is so interesting to me because he is basically Kyle Van Noy with his versatility and we already have Kyle Van Noy who is getting up there in age so its a natural replacement

Well, 2016 for example is warped. Michael Thomas was WR6 but were there even six WRs drafted worth rostering?

  17. If the Panthers miss out on all of the QBs (draft or trade) then I wouldn't be too shocked if we took Pitts at #8. I don't really want to but I also wouldn't be that upset. But I do think we'd heavily consider Mac Jones over him.

Imo Panthers should pray the Jets don’t want Zach Wilson and then get that deal DONE

That or DeShaun. I am banging the table for DeShaun on the Panthers. Go Panthers if that happens.

if Miami cannot get Deshaun, it'd be cool for the Panthers to get him

basically just don't let the Jets get him

  23. I think we are have a real shot at getting him if he is actually traded. I have no worries about him waiving his NTC to come here. And I think Tepper is pushing for him. Tepper is a "do whatever it takes" kind of owner. That's how we got Rhule and Brady.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but I think we have a chance.

How many first round tight ends are actually successful? Seems like most of the good ones are mid to late round picks
