I don't know, I just think it's funny how Philly gets singled out while every city has shitty fans. But what else is new.

There are good and cool Philly fans, but then there are the ones who threaten to kneecap your superfan kid with that rare syndrome for wearing another team’s jersey and they ruin it for the rest of y’all.

Not worth arguing about. I actually love philly as a city and, to the extent that I follow the NBA, am a Sixers fan. I don’t dislike philly fans, even. I think they are super passionate and obnoxious in a funny way. But we can’t pretend like they don’t have a reputation that isn’t rooted in truth

 

The thing that makes it not just an “all sports fans do it” thing IMO is that there’s a fairly small but not unsubstantial sub-group of Philadelphia sports fans (and their journalists) who take pride in a reputation of harassing athletes to the point of breaking them in the same way that like Bills Mafia takes pride in their image and that’s not a thing with most other fanbases

 

as someone who lives in the Philly area and is not a Philly sports fan (sans Villanova), the stereotypes are true about Philly fans unfortunately

of course that doesnt mean ALL Philly fans are like that

 

This is definitely true. I think the Oakland Black Hole might have been the only other fan base as consistently shitty, and their mediocrity + having an owner who was even shittier never really blew them up as much.

Andy Reid catches basically no shit in KC despite having about the same outcomes as he did in PHI.

This is completely untrue. Compare Wentz' treatment to McNabb, it's not even close how much better Wentz had it.

You could certainly name plenty of players who were treated unfairly in Philadelphia. Wentz would be almost at the bottom of the list

 

mostly joking around, but also Foles just looks like a generic white NPC from a video game to me so I feel like with how short his window of good play was + add a decade and I don’t feel like he would be recognized all that much.

vs, someone like Andy Reid who I feel would be recognized everywhere (especially Philly).

I defended Wentz tooth and nail, but I also loved Dougie P. I just wish it didn't end so ugly and I still feel Wentz should have handled things better than way he did.
