This Golladay/Giants thing has been so strange

 

Golladay would be making a mistake by going to the Giants imo.

 

I kind of agree, but not 100%. Cam was horrible more often than not last year, and it's completely understandable to think he's just cooked and that's going to be roughly his level of play going forward. That said, I think there's a lot of reasons it's defensible in light of the other options. Dalton was trash last year with a top 3 wr corps and two great rb's. Fitz interested me but he's still just a stopgap, the guarantee is twice as much, and his riskiness with the ball doesn't really fit the Belichick offense (yes I know that multiple games were lost on Cam fumbles ly).

I love the idea of Jimmy coming back but he's expensive and the Stafford/Watson developments have made him getting cut a virtual impossibility. I don't think the free agency splurge could have happened to this degree with that contract on the books - Cam's only making 5 mil if they miss the playoffs and that affords a considerable amount of the flexibility they've taken advantage of.

I'd be more worried, but the majority of this week's moves seem as much about 2022 and 23 to me and I'm still really convinced QB is priority 1 in the draft. I am pretty low on the Pats as a legitimate contender this year, but higher than I've been on the three year outlook since they traded JG in the first place.

Its the point in free agency where "the Ravens made a push for *big name free agent* but weren't able to get a deal done." Happens every offseason.

 

God dammit. To be fair, it makes very little sense for him if he's looking for a 1 year deal. Coming to us and spending the year blocking probably won't maximise his value.

in all seriousness, idk if it’s this guy or one of the Turay/Banogu/Lewis group or someone not on the roster yet, but the Autry role is one that they should be able to develop someone into so I’m fine with that decision to let him walk

the giants/golladay stuff has been very odd for sure. a 6 win team preaching culture and making sure things are 'a right fit' - get good players to win fucking games, why does it have to be this difficult?

I’m pretty sure the golladay stuff will come soon, he’s supposed to have his physical this afternoon and that’s gonna be a big deal for them

 

It is weird but I do not blame teams at all if there's the feeling Golladay quit on the Lions. And don't get me wrong the players have such little leverage I don't really blame him for doing it even if he was fully healed with time left in the season. But I'm not shocked his market appears to be a little different than had he finished out the year.

 

It’s a really bad time if you're a player who didn’t opt out, played during the peak of the pandemic and now are left with mostly shitty options
