LFG. I love that move. Offensive line is back to good, weapons are in place, running game was the only bright spot last year, 10-6 here we come.

there is a solid line here, depending on how they wanna do it. I’m on team kick Wynn inside and have Brown play LT and Onwenu play RT, but what do I know lol

It may be the fanboy homer and fantasy owner in me talking but if Cam is any threat to pass at all, Damien Harris is gonna run for a million yards this year.

I still think Cam was bad, but Ben Voilin is making a fair point that the fan base is also too hard on him. He went 7-8 with no weapons, first year in the system and having Covid. If he makes a second year jump, stays healthy, and the rest of the roster performs like we expect them, there’s no reason to think they can’t be in the playoff hunt.

Oh 100%, he is my least favorite Pats beat writer. He’s just the one having that convo right now. Way more of a Doug Kyed, Jeff Howe, Phil Perry guy.

one of the Dolphins writers made a good point that the Fuller contract could technically be thought of as like 2 years, $28 million because you could always franchise him if he has a great year

Is this success as in, getting "open" or actually making the catch when targeted? If it's just getting "open", I don't know that I would trust manually tallied stats for that.

64% is an absurd number for nine routes, even for a speed demon like Fuller, to the point where I really don't believe it's accurate. Even Moss didn't have that kind of nine-route success. If Fuller was really winning 64% of nine routes on-time then they would be throwing them all game and putting up 35+ points constantly. It would be stupid NOT to.

I feel like on a nine route it would be easy to see separation and think SEE HE'S OPEN... but not understand that the timing of the play didn't allow it / not understand that just because he got open doesn't mean the defender wouldn't catch up to the ball. How SOON he got open, and how much space the QB had to throw before running out of field, matters more than whether he got separation or not.

That window needs to be a lot wider for deep throws, and if the QB can't or doesn't throw it in less than 2 seconds it's already too late.

I believe its a successful play aka a catch

I'll have to read up on the Reception perception stuff

Oh okay. Yeah cause if it's catch vs targets then that's a good thing. But if it's just getting open percentage, I'm highly skeptical.

I would imagine an unofficial stat collector could very easily make mistakes like, give Will Fuller "wins" every time he beats press off the line in Cover 2... not knowing that the CB's assignment is to stay on the line of scrimmage, and not knowing the ball didn't get thrown because NFL safeties really can cover 30+ yards of distance before the ball gets there.

Yes, nine routes are one of the ways to attack the weaknesses of Cover 2, but against quality safeties, you can't assume it's a win every time he gets open in the first 10 yards. That's how you throw picks, especially if the QB doesn't consistently "look off" the coverage.

Things like this are the reason why, like, PFF grades and advanced stats that require manual observation can be very hit or miss. It's only gonna be correct if that stat collector really understands football enough to know the context.

    Feel the Wrath Supporter

Nah, he was trash. Yes, the weapons werent great, but in the 3 games before COVID, he had 2 games he barely broke 150yds. After COVID, he had a Peterman level game against San Fran. Dude had 3 games where he didnt break 100yds passing. Trent Dilfer was looking at his stat lines and scoffing.

Truthfully, its malpractice to leave Cam as the starter with that team. If they truly believe they have a top 5 OL and RBs to cash in...and honestly, a pretty scary 12 personnel look with play action, etc...then having a QB that can maximize the garbage they have at WR is key.

If Cam is healthy and starts most games, Pats are paying him $7-8mil, which is about what Dalton/Fitzpatrick/etc are making. And unlike Cam, a team might actually bite on play action from them because its believable they are throwing more than 20yds down field and to more than one side of the field. I dont think Bridgewater or Jimmy G are all that great, but, over Cam, I'd take them in a heartbeat.

Oh I’d take Jimmy or Teddy over Cam. Prob not Dalton haha.

If the Dolphins end up signing Chris Carson and drafting Najee Harris I'll be sad because that's way too much.

...but if the board breaks like that and you still get Collins, Humphrey, and Ossai, who gives a fuck. That's free real estate baby.

Only trade was to move up for Brevin Jordan. Would be stoked on this combined with what we've done in FA.
