oh they literally sell them in the frozen aisle of the grocery store hahaha. They are good though.

Chili's is the exception to me disliking most mega-chain pub style restaurants

ah, see clutch late night spots is one of the reasons i prefer living very close to cities over more isolated suburbs

Because then you have like 50 locally owned restaurants all open late and half of them are way better than Friday's / Chili's haha

  13. Listen my palate didn't evolve until my mid 20s I didnt know anything about good food growing up in a town called Blandon

That said, idk how much of my life imma be on this late schedule. Depends how quickly i can find freelance work as a programmer that's just as lucrative as a salary job haha.

(I'm expecting that to take at least 5-10 years and expecting to have to work the 9 to 5 until my loans are paid off and I've saved money for a house. I'd imagine you need a lot of varied /versatile expertise, and networking connections already built up, to actually make bank off of freelance work.)

Will forever be grateful to Applebee’s and their giant ass super strong Long Island Ice Teas for $2.50. Spent a lot of fun nights in my twenties with friends drinking those and eating miscellaneous appetizers

What other shitty restaurants do I like? I don’t even know lol. The list has narrowed down a LOT over time.

My family raised me in suburban Jacksonville FL... which, the only thing people even DO for fun there is go out to eat at chain restaurants lol. (And go to shopping malls with movie theatres. Typical boring ass suburb stuff.) My family ate out more than most, and I used to love that shit.

However, working in the restaurant industry really transformed my standards when it comes to paying for food lol.

I saw Carrabba’s food quality go downhill a LOT when I worked there... and since then I’ve been very particular / firm about pretty much only supporting locally owned spots unless it’s fast food for cheap.

    (:

Ruby Tuesday's I like because of the salad bar, but other than that chain restaurants suck.

my experience in the food industry has taught me theres pros and cons to patronizing both big chains and mom and pop shops honestly. chains for cheap, convenience, consistency, etc. mom and pop shops always have more potential but are a complete crapshoot when it comes to quality, sanitation, and how they treat workers. most former food workers agree w me they had better experiences working for chain restaurants unfortunately.

Ruby Tuesday's salad bar has gone way the hell downhill too, lol. Last time I had it all the veggies literally tasted like the plastic from the bags they came in

Large chain restaurants in general are just a total failed profit model, and they're only still in business because of

    1) not paying servers an actual minimum wage because of "tipped income" (biggest scam ever)
    2) keeping stock prices inflated by staying relevant and being PERCEIVED as a successful company

    and the biggest one,

    3) downgrading food quality control and choosing cheaper suppliers over better quality ones.

I've studied this a lot, both in the context of what business school taught me and from working in the field for almost a decade. And yeah, most restaurants, as well as most delivery services, straight up shouldn't be in business right now. Their fragile profit margins only exist because of the three above things. Many of them necessarily have to deliver a shittier product and be shittier to their workers to afford their marginal costs.

I still fuck with Chili’s. Other chains like that are big time trash tho
