Seattle's roster is really rough from an outsider's perspective. The OL is kinda trash. No TE you trust. Carson gone. The offense is literally just Russ with DK and Lockett. Which I suppose that trio makes up for some weaknesses, but man, those are a lot of holes. And they have no cap and poopy draft picks.

 

The salary cap is all made up LOL

Im honestly trying to figure out why they made him a full contract; like maybe the league office cares if you are just blatantly throwing money to future years? Cause it always felt obvious they'd spread his money for this year out...

Where the cap gets real is this, next year...two guys who, but for restructures, are easily cuttable for $10mil type savings:

33yr old Cameron Jordan ($22mil cap hit, $1mil savings if cut)
35yr old Malcolm Jenkins ($13mil cap hit, <$500k savings if cut)

God help them if Taysom Hill is actually good and they actually have to pay those void years...there goes any hope of keeping a Trequan Smith or extending a Terron Armstead.

 

2022 Eagles are in a similar bad space; they've got like $35-40mil in dead money again in 2022 after throwing $40mil in dead money at Wentz and DJax in 2021. Thats like, the entire Patriots roster in dead money

Cam Jordan is almost definitely gone... and that's an old guy I wouldn't mind the Jags being the team to give some of their copious cap space to him.

I saw somewhere that Pittsburgh was still trying to do a deal with Villanueva. Of all the free agents, I feel like he's the most expendable.

I agree, but, both him and Conner might have relative soft markets where it makes sense to bring them back on 1yr deals or relatively cheap 3yr deals

Though I dont see Villanueva coming cheaply enough for it to make sense

 

It will be a frustrating year for the Steelers. Bringing Ben back, okay fine I get but you're going to lose a top WR, the oline will probably be even worse, lose Conner, lose Hilton, maybe lose Sutton, lose Dupree. Sigh.
