    there is one way out

seriously. Pay a high school student $200 and you’ll get something better.

  4. I've said before, the chances of us getting Watson are slim just because of the amount of competition and price tag. But this clip doesn't change anything imo. He is just saying stuff we already know. The Jets and Dolphins have a more attractive first rounder this year. But there are a lot of other factors going into a Watson deal than that.

  5. as long as we get a new QB i’ll be happy lol

    unless it’s Mac Jones

  6. My bold take on how it'll play out and crush the Dolphins and Jets hopes....

Houston continues to stand firm on the idea that he's their QB. For some unknown reason they don't make a trade before the draft and miss out on the opportunity to get first rounders this year. Training camp starts and Watson is a no-show. Tensions boil over. Houston finally gives in to trade him. Bill Belichick picks up his phone and calls his buddy Easterby. They send Cam Newton (fresh off his annual offseason workout videos campaign) and some picks to Houston for Watson. And as always, the Patriots win.

Its just kicking the can down the road. Like, they now cant reasonable cut Cam Jordan til 2023, when he's 34. All 3 of their big restructures have like $60mil in combined cap hit next year (when they might get restructured again). From a depth side of things, they're gonna keep spiraling.

Ravens are probably the best in the league at reloading, and giving Flacco that huge deal they had to keep restructuring made them 5-11, 8-8, and 9-7 with no playoffs. They went 14-2 when they finally got out of under the weight of that deal.

This is why I just follow their guys on Twitter and you rarely need to click into an article because they screenshot and thread stuff.

I could actually see this; once the draft passes, basically every avenue closes. The Jets will draft their future, and they'd be the only team remaining with multiple 2022 1sts to even make the deal enticing (though, even two 2022 1sts from the Jets probably isnt gonna end as good as 2+23...and certainly not as good as 3+18 from MIA). Maybe the Dolphins still want him, but all they can really offer is Tua, X, and like 2-3 future 1sts...which is way worse than taking that exact deal today for Tua, X, 3, and 18.

Like the endgame problem for Houston is, if they trade Watson (and they will), they need to do it in a way that lets them be believably competitive in 2021. Easterby/Caserio dont get to keep their jobs if they're looking like they are trotting out an 0-16 level squad.

Maybe Im wrong and Easterby is truly god-tier stupid...but I dont see them calling Watsons bluff past the draft. Too many teams that can offer too much value in a cap year where dirt cheap rookie contracts are worth their weight in gold

You lose Hopkins, Fuller, and Watson over a 12 month period....but, you walk away with

Tua, X, Devonta Smith, and like the 3rd best OL or 2nd best CB prospect in the draft, AND an extra 2022 pick...fans can start lying to themselves that there's hope, and the team can spin "we went 4-12 with Deshaun" like he wasnt the answer.

You walk away with Cam Newton and a bunch of 2022 picks and later, they fire Easterby the same day

Urban also basically says they're going to address tight ends in the draft AND free agency. Henry/Jonnu + Freiermuth????

  14. i’m just upset that they’ll continue to be good until they actually can’t find a way out of their ongoing cap hell lol

Eh, this is the worst year for them; especially if the cap goes back to $210+ mil next year, they have enough deals ending and their worst 2022 deals were like a Janoris Jenkins being owed $15mil at age 35.

But we're talking a Saints team with no QB, that can only build through the draft, and that even next year wont be able to make any big splashes in FA. Thats the recipe for going 7-9, 8-8 and just lingering for 2-3 years til it resets.

depending on how many / if fans are allowed this year, this would be the perfect year to tank for a top 10 pick to boost that reset (and not lose revenue of fans not showing up later in the season). Get a high quality player next year on a rookie contract and then 1-2 years later when you can build and go again you at least have a high first and a high second pick ready to go if you hit on them.

but as always, fuck the Saints so I hope they go 11-5 and are one and done in the playoffs

There is a small chance Herndon is good enough to eventually play CB2. They wouldn’t have signed him if Meyer didn’t like his tape (and I think he has shown signs of promise as well). If anything he’ll be a good rotating boundary corner so that we can move guys around.
