Did he though? Like what were the odds any team ever came knocking again? Its precisely the only type of job he was ever gonna get...and seeing as Marvin Lewis and Leslie Frazier got interviews, he's smart to know that even being a failed HC is better for future prospects than 65yr old assistant.

They hired a fall guy; which is why the list was dudes like Marvin lewis to begin with

Culley took the job knowing what he was getting into but it's still a bad look for the team to make him give a press conference defending a situation Culley had no control over. Very reminiscent of Brett Brown in 2015 having to politely answer questions about why the team was tanking

 

But it's still fucked up that the organization itself is already making him look like a clown over a situation he really doesn't have control over.
