I’d take Luke Keuchly, Patrick Willis, Bobby Wagner, and Navorro Bowman over Lavonte David as HOF ILBs from that era

 

I think all get in except Bowman tbh. Just going to take awhile.

Yeah maybe. Although then you might get to whoever has longevity of this next awesome crop of ILBs after 7-10 years on the ballot (Leonard, Warner, Roquan Smith, Jaylon Smith, etc)

 

Yeah it’s tough for LBs to get in. I love David but let’s not overrate him - he’s not like, Derrick Brooks-level good

 

My guess would be Kuechly and Wagner definitely get in, Willis probably gets in eventually but sits on the ballot for a long while, and the other two are Hall of Very Good guys

 

This is great to see. I really thought Highsmith was hitting his stride coming down the stretch, and I think he’ll make a solid jump in heat two.

Willis and Kuechly sometimes get knocked because of longevity but I don’t think they should be punished by voters because they decided to save their brains. Both had bad concussion issues. I wouldn’t let that hold me back from voting them in first ballot. They are two of the best ever at that position and it’s not debatable. So they get in.

yeah but Brooks was a turnover machine. Better at sacks too.

 

Tackles can be a little out of context. David played on a lot of bad teams and I’m always wary on guys that compile a ton of tackles for a 4-12 team. David is great but the tackles stat sometimes isn’t reflective of a LBs greatness.

 

I know. David is still elite

 

Oh yeah, Iknow. Usually a guy that leads in tackles is because hes targeted a bunch and is bad. Not true of David tho
