Anyone else having issues with this site being redirected to a shit “you’ve won an award!” site? It keeps directing me to “goodluckdog.space” but only on mobile which seems odd. Never had this happen before and it’s frustrating as fuck.

I guess 2020 draft picks technically had the right to sit out like players under contract, but Im not sure it was all that clear how they'd be handled. Like, he didnt sign his rookie deal til Aug 3rd, which is when everyone was opting out...so, could he have signed his rookie deal, taken the signing bonus, then opted out and accepted the $150k salary?

I suspect he busts out, but, even getting a guy most people thought was a locked in starting RT in the league for a 2021 7th is worth the risk even if he doesn't play a snap.

when is free agency starting this is taking too long

I need to know what moves Baalke / Meyer / Bevell / Cullen / Strong are making ASAP pls

too much anticipation. Jags have been bad for so long and this feels like our best chance to get it right. I can't not be anxious.

Baalke is also the one in charge of contracts and accumulating draft picks / making deals, which especially gives him a large voice in free agency... Meyer admitted in his conference that's what he's new to and will need outside guidance on

Oh yeah, money wise Baalke is in charge but if Meyer says "get this guy. Make it happen." then that's what'll happen.

I get it from a football perspective, but I just mean as a fan I don’t want to root for that guy. It wasn’t the typical young and dumb partying which I get and I’ve done that but multiple times in the height of the pandemic in extremely reckless ways and showing up to work with your teammates who have families...it’s too much and too brazen. We’ve all lost too much this past year, it would just not be easy to root for him that’s all.

Yeah. I mean I credit Meyer for being a coach who likes to take control & has a good eye for a lot of things but I don't think he's just gonna be an authoritarian early on. Maybe 4 or 5 years in we'll start to see him be a Sean Payton esque control freak if he's successful but I kinda doubt it'll be like that early.

This is his first NFL job and while he's adamant abotu injecting some college offense ideas into his scheme, he seems to be very understanding that the different level of competition means he will still be learning and adjusting early on.

One day a franchise QB is gonna sign and people aren’t gonna respond with “he’s not worth that.”

Yeah, I get that. Though honestly the DUI is the thing that would trigger me...there's still no excuse for any NFL player to ever drive drunk. But there's still a line between all that and like, Tyreek Hill or Derrius Guice. I havent seen anything, off my googling, that he was some massive problem at Georgia and this is continuing it.

also they probably can just walk. a lot of players, especially rookies, live right downtown anyway. Except Jax obviously

Yeah for sure there’s a guy on virtually every team I don’t want to root for and then there’s the occasional AB or Tyreek where it just makes you sick to your stomach to see them out there. I agree he’s nowhere near that line although I will say I’d be way more concerned if the vaccine wasn’t going to be fully rolled out by the season and this dude better not be opting out of the vaccine.

I don't think he's going to be like authoritarian or anything but it's been emphasized a lot that this is his team and vision.

Truthfully, Mahomes does blur that line, because it might ramp up faster than the cap does....but every player ever should only sign contracts structured like his deal. Shit is genius. KC has to cut him within 10 days, and take a $60mil dead cap hit, to avoid his 2023 money guaranteeing. And same thing at the start of the 2022 league year for his 2024 money and so on, I think literally through 2028.

But, KC can trade Mahomes any season and basically save his entire cap hit, because his contract is a series of massive roster bonuses. And any year, they can restructure them as signing bonuses to free up tons of space. He controls his fate via a no trade clause, but, if the team implodes somehow or he wants a new franchise, it can happen easily.
