I’d still rather have the better starter than the better depth. Ravens can draft or sign a backup QB this year if they’re worried about depth. It’s not nearly as hard to find a usable backup QB than it is to find a starter as good or better than Lamar

Hey I like Burrow but wanted to stick to objective facts - Lamar and Mayfield have already shown they can contribute as much to their team victories as Ben does (probably more so at this point of Ben’s career)

He's making a joke because some teams didn't even grade Lamar as a QB in the draft

I think what I did is I read half of each post and tried to respond to both and it was a proper response to neither lol

@CarpetElf if I wasn’t so sure we were gonna draft Freiermuth I’d be all over this

I will be bummed if someone takes Pat F before our second round 2 pick. I feel like that’s just a given that he would be good on an Urban Meyer team with his college TE coach on staff.

Pitts is a much scarier receiver and athlete but Freiermuth is still really good and more well rounded when it comes to being an every down player

I don't hate this idea depending on the pick

Okay we have to stop saying this. If a team is taking Kyle Pitts top 10 they aren't taking him off the field haha.

Sorry broski, Bill's gonna do right by him and move him to a solid situation.

I’m not gonna be bullish on this because I’ve been very wrong before... but I kinda think Kyle Pitts isn’t getting taken top 10 haha. I’ll say that I’ll be surprised / impressed if a team really does draft him for a mostly wide receiver role.

I personally feel like lining him up against good boundary corners would rob him of matchup advantages and limit him to only his catch point skills. Which, I like the idea of doing that in the red zone but I feel like Kyle Pitts would simply be a “pretty good” wide receiver if they did that all the time. He’s not slow but he doesn’t have strong suddenness or separation skill for the WR position either.

idk. Maybe a dedicated spread offense team has a Y receiver role that works the middle of the field, and in that case I guess I could see that being a good compromise between matchup advantages and him not being asked to run block early on. But that’s something I see a team like the Cardinals doing, not most teams in the top 10. Maybe the Eagles take another TE but I really doubt they’ll have the balls to do that to a franchise that just had their QB regress

And of course he's a Florida guy.

Kyle Pitts is a better player top to bottom than either of the Mike Williams WR's drafted in the top 10. So we'll see. If someone gets him outside of the top 10 its a steal.

I just think he shocked college football analysts by like, scoring 3-4 TDs a game multiple times haha.

But I feel as though NFL scouts are going to understand that that’s context dependent... and he might not be THAT dangerous if they try to use him as a WR more than occasionally in red zone packages.

If Kyle Pitts runs a 40 time even remotely close to Darren Waller then I start looking for his name starting pick three.

He’s not a better receiver than Chase, Smith AND waddle come on now. Also keep in mind Waller was drafted in round 4, and Jimmy Graham who i think is a solid comparison for Pitts was drafted in round 3. If the RB argument applies then so does the tight end argument. Yes Kittle and Hockenson went early.... because they can block. Ebron went top 10 and we can safely call that a reach. Even Ertz & Kelce, two clearly elite receiving skill TE coming right out, didn’t go in the first round. Others like Hayden Hurst were straight up not worth a first round pick while people like Engram and Eifert got hurt too much to really tell - and still went in the 20s, not early first round. Fant is good but is he better than Ertz and Kelce good?

it is very very possible Pitts is better than all those guys and even then I don’t think I’m out of the ballpark to suggest he should be picked in the teens. Vernon Davis is the only non blocking TE I can think of in the last 15 years that went early and was worth it, and even then it’s because he did run 4.3 and WAS as fast as most wide receivers lol. Also let’s not forget Waller was a WR who was expected to run fast and then converted to TE, opposite situation.

Oh shit. So lower than I thought. That’s just questionable he shouldn’t have fallen nearly that low lol

so yeah it would be an anomaly if Pitts went that early. He still might but past trends tell me that a lot of teams are comfortable passing on even really good TE in the first round. It only takes one team to love him though, I just am skeptical if that team is in the top 10.

Cowboys and Dolphins should definitely highly consider Pitts. Phins can trade down with Carolina and get him at 8

Or teams should learn and grab an elite TE early. Hockenson went 8 and is not significantly more physical.
