I don't think Russell Wilson is a top 10 QB of all time, but "best QB of all time" and "best QB right now" are two entirely different things

Josh Allen is top 10 right now and Ben Roethlisberger is nowhere close, but that would not be reflected in a ranking of the best all-time QBs

And the way the NFL has changed, if you use production as a primary metric for ranking the best NFL QBs.... it would make sense that the 4th best guy right now could be #11 or #12 all time

  3. JRShoenberger

    there is one way out

Yeah. Top 5 makes the most sense, for sure.

  5. The Seahawks have been boning Russ with their scheming for years lol surprised it took this long for him to speak up.

Seattle runs the ball for 3 quarters and then asks Russ to bail them out in the 4th

Also, on a per-game basis, Russell Wilson and Ben are pretty close in yardage/tds/etc, and that kind of says it all for how he's been used when Russ is significantly more talented and unique. But in an all-time ranking, right now, Wilson is 4-5 seasons of production from passing a Roethlisberger-type

Haha true and all of That’s fine, meant being a top five QB of all time.

Russell Wilson could legit be one of the top five most talented QBs of all time. Kind of like Aaron Rodgers. Both of them have been utterly wasted throughout their careers and it's frustrating from a fan perspective, I can't imagine how it must be for the actual players. Watching them do stupid shit like take Jordan Love and Rashaad Penny in the first.

Brees? Big Ben? Matt Ryan? Wilson has quite some ground to make up in terms of this era great QB's.

Yeah are we talking "greatness" or "talent". Russ is objectively there talent wise and I think just as objectively not there greatness wise.

I mean, he may not get above them in the record books but is he more *talented* than those guys? Is he more efficient / does he take care of the ball better while still being highly productive? Does his elusiveness give him yet another dimension of "hard to defend" that those QBs don't have? My answer is yes to all those things.

Give Russ the same offensive support as Brees had for his whole career and he'd be much higher in total production imo.

Shit, imagine Russ with even just the offensive line talent Ben Roethlisberger has had.

Russ would be MUCH higher than Brees? At like 8 years younger!?

Russ would be much higher in production than he is right now*

Not saying he'd already be the leading passer all time haha. Im just saying Russell's numbers themselves would be a lot better if it didn't take them until NOW to give him some fuckin receivers / if their line didn't STILL SUCK 10 years into Wilson's career

Hot take: Russell Wilson elevated the SHIT out of Doug Baldwin and he wouldn't have been nearly as good on most other teams

  16. Russ to Panthers who says no

Poor Matt Ryan, that dude is gonna get left off so many all-time lists because the team blew a 28-3 lead and they could never regularly field a defense. We're like 5 years from Cowherd saying "Eli is greater than Matt Ryan because he won 2 SBs"

I think ultimately, in this era (post-Peyton, but with almost all QBs largely taken in the 2000s), we're looking at Brady/Rodgers/Brees/Wilson as the top 4...and Mahomes is the start of the next era along with Allen, etc. Ryan/Ben/Rivers/that while collective is the 2nd tier, being guys that might not make the HOF, while the top tier 100% will.

    Another hot take:

Matt Ryan overperformed the year he went to the SuperBowl. He didn't "regress", he went back to his true self haha

His true self of 4000 yards, 20 TDs. sub 2.5% INT rate. Guy is elite, shame the Falcons let him down for 12 years.

  20. Matt Ryan is a dork that is also an elite QB for his era

Matt Ryan's stats are good some years (and merely above average others...) but he's just not clutch haha

I've never seen the guy as someone I wanna rely on when my team needs some elite quarterbacking to come back from a deficit

I would begrudgingly call him "very good" because admittedly his stats were better than I remember the last time i looked them up, but "elite" is a stretch

Top 10 passing yards all time, above average imo.

  24. Ryan is 8th all time in game winning drives. Half of them against the Panthers but I’d still say he is clutch.

I mean, Russ is talking Greatness if he's calling himself top 10 all time...

I guess Im wondering if Russ had the offensive talent of Atlanta or Pittsburgh or New Orleans, would he currently be 5x All-Pro, multi-time MVP, etc?
