Building around Schobert / Jack / Van Noy on defense sounds fun. Third LB is not a position i want to prioritize in the draft but getting a FA there would be a boost to whoever else we draft.

he wasn't bad...he was one of the leaders in the league in QB pressures before he got hurt halfway through the year IIRC. He didn't do much once he came back.

Charlie Strong has talked about how he wants linebackers to be the heart and soul of this defense and there are hints we are moving toward a 3-4. If that's the case, especially... Van Noy is DEFINITELY a good fit.

 

Fuck it give me Van Noy and Matthew Judon son. Rotate Van Noy as both a pass rushing OLB in base 3-4 looks, and as an interior sub package linebacker. Rotate Matthew Judon with Josh Allen and K'Lavon Chaisson, with all three on the field in blitz packages.

Also give me Trent Williams.

Then draft me Barmore at 25 or Daviyon Nixon later, and at least one (if not two) of the good safeties in this class. (Trevon Moehrig AND Andre Cisco, for example, would be awesome, and would probably still leave one of our early picks for Freiermuth.)

There are no hints, we hired two LB coaches haha. We're going 3-4 unless we hired a guy to coach literally just Joe Schobert

 

Would be a dope LB group. Barmore at 25 is probably my #1 option pending an absurd fall. Moehrig and Cisco is unnecessary and I've been softening on Cisco too.

 

I don’t think it’s unnecessary. Depends on our defensive coach’s style. Some of them like to have two hybrid safeties who can interchange rather than one major cover guy and one enforcer. We’ve done a lot of the latter because we ran cover 3.

 

I’m also suggesting Cisco in the third or even fourth round so, not a heavy investment per se. I said that because I consider it unlikely we get Moehrig and Nasrildeen

 

If we want two hybrid safeties we probably shouldn't draft either of them in that case.

Damn, that’s how I always ran my Madden teams. No one older than 30. Crazy that’s true for a professional football team right now.

 

Yeah, Im not sure I get the move. His salary guaranteed at the start of the league year, but, just make it a signing bonus for this year and his cap number drops like $7-8mil as well.

If they can trade him for something, it makes sense, otherwise Im not really sure you can replace his talent cheaper...unless they think his injuries are gonna destroy him in 2021 (at which point I have bad news for them...if he fails a physical his 2021 salary is guaranteed)
