They did not weigh him at the beginning of the year. Zion is probably around 265 ish. The average PF is 232. The average PF is also two inches taller than Zion, which is why he looks so much heavier than his counterparts.

 

So my point that he's a heavy, huge power forward who shouldn't be able to move laterally and have suddenness like that is correct. Apologies for getting the number wrong and thinking basketball teams had the same standards for measurements as the NFL.

But I still think the Derrick Henry comparison wasn't far off because they win the same way - with power inside, because they have much more mass than their average counterpart... but incredible suddenness and change of direction in space as well for a "power" player.

Yeah Randall I know you literally just started following basketball this year but Zion is a bull in a china shop RN.

 

I just started following it yeah but it's not like I don't understand it. It was my first sport love before football actually. And I did watch a lot of it in high school and college.

 

I don't hate the Zion to Henry comparison but I think you can make that comparison about like 90% of NBA players.

 

I just thought it was weird that your main point was that Zion is small for his position but instead of acknowledging my OVERALL point - "yeah hes WAY heavier than most his opponents and that does add a Derrick Henry-esque power to his game"

you wanted to try to "prove me wrong" because I believed the number he was listed as, and the number the announcer keeps saying over every Pelicans broadcast. Like, my bad on that but I have looked it up and thought I knew based on that.

My main point stands, he's not small, he's actually one of the biggest and most powerful players in the league, and he wins by surprising you with adding his suddenness onto that. That was my point with the Derrick Henry thing.

I didn't want to try and prove you wrong. You said something incorrect so I corrected it. There is nothing there to take offense to. Also, didn't say small, I said short. Also don't think the Henry thing because Zion isn't absurdly sized compared to his peers.

 

Being 30 pounds heavier than the average peers at their position is actually something Zion and Henry have in common. Not sure why you're bringing height into it because Henry's height doesn't matter for being a running back at all. If anything it still holds him back from being an even BETTER player lol

 

though... Derrick Henry is quickly shaping up to be the best pass-protecting back in the league so I guess his length does help him there, to be fair.
