Yeah. Points is not a defense-only stat. Field position plays a huge part as well. Defenses will factually and demonstrably give up more points on a regular basis of their offense continues to get 3 and outs / negative yardage or if the special teams keeps giving up big returns, so the correlation between the two variables is not nearly direct enough to judge defenses based off points. Yards allowed, and rate of 3rd down conversions allowed, are far better metrics

Aikman also consistently threw for less yards. Like. Kinda easier to play clean when an Emmitt Smith offense and one of the all time great offensive lines and defenses allowed you to just safely pass for 3000-3300 yards throughout the whole 90s when every other elite QB was starting to have to pass more
