Yeah like I don’t get why people are saying $100,000 per loss is a good deal, no it’s not. That’s $1.7 million dollars total to sabotage your own resume and throw away future 2-3-4+ million dollar PER YEAR head coaching deals (maybe way more than that depending on reputation) because you scapegoated yourself to lose on purpose

It’s only a good deal if you’re like, David Culley or Rich Bissacia and had no business being a HC / are almost 100% not gonna get another HC job afterward / aren’t getting paid nearly that much otherwise. Of course a very high potential coach, who was able to take a struggling Miami team and make them competitive, is not gonna just pretend he doesn’t have that skill so the GM can get a high draft pick.

Future employers are going to look at how he did on previous teams and losing on purpose does not do him any favors. It’s absolutely unreasonable for a GM or owner to expect a coach to do that. People have to remember coaches are building their careers / networks / legacy and their whole job is to inspire the roster they currently have, so that’s bigger to them than trying to target a specific player in the future they haven’t even met

 

I’m just happy whoever pushed for Tua over in Miami.

All Idzik did was release all of the expiring contracts that Tannenbaum set up. He also had a historically awful draft and traded Revis. Maccagnan was so much worse though.

I'm really surprised Tanny doesn't have a GM job again. He was awesome.
