Hmm… so Getsy is leaving GB where he’s been since 2019.

You could certainly play devils advocate that this is a sign Rodgers is leaving and/or he thinks Love is gonna be a struggle to work with if he’s leaving to work with Fields. I get it’s a promotion in Chicago vs being QB coach in GB but does that mean he knew he wasn’t going to possibly become the OC in GB?

seems like an odd move unless either he knew Rodgers isn’t coming back and/or knew he wasn’t in the running for OC with GB.

Also kind of curious that that Hackett didn’t take him with to Denver but that may be pushing it since not every coordinator that becomes HC somewhere brings people with them.

 

Back to Brady for a minute:

It’s something I randomly think about, but I remember watching the Falcons Super Bowl from start to finish and at no time felt the game was truly over. I just kept thinking, “well, it’s Brady and Bill, idk, I won’t really believe it’s over until it’s over.” I think I probably thought New England would at least make it a close loss since when a team is up big they almost always give up garbage yards and points in the 4th and then it just so happened that they won and some of the most bizarre plays happened in that game.

The only other time I had that weird, “well let’s just wait and see” feeling was the Packers/Seahawks title game. I remember just quietly sitting on my couch while friends and family shit on the Seahawks in group texts and then what happened happened.

 

From what I understand it came down to playcalling. Hackett and MLF are both calling plays.

 

pretty sure I’ve seen that you’re expected to get most, if not all, the Colts’ current defensive staff besides the DL coach that they didn’t renew

James Rowe seemed to do an especially good job with the corners and Borgonzi is supposedly good too

 

if Stephen Ross lets Harbaugh leave Michigan for an NFL job and then doesn't even fucking interview him in Miami, hes even more of a dickhead than I thought

I don’t dislike Schwartz, but this would be yet another data point in support of “Frank Reich leans too heavily on his network of guys he’s worked with in the past and it could ultimately be his downfall”

 

Absolutely. I don’t think Schwartz is a bad DC, but if he gets the job with the Colts, expect some big changes to that defense. He’ll put a lot of emphasis on the defensive line and stopping the run. The biggest complaint about his time in Philly was how often he’d play with a single-high safety, thus putting corners on islands, even if those corners were overmatched. Expect a safety in the box often.

To my knowledge and understanding, the Colts were at the forefront of this wave of teams using more cover 2 over the last few years. Schwartz ain’t gonna do that.

 

The Colts have been a cover 2 team a lot, and long before Reich. They were a cover 2 defense most of Manning’s years as well. I think that actually started with Dungy
