I hope some team trades for Minshew. Wouldn't mind getting a fourth for him

    I fucking love this dude.

still happy with Trevor, a bad rookie season doesn’t mean he wasn’t the best QB prospect we were ever going to have access to. If he doesn’t succeed, it’s entirely the fault of our coaching staff and GM.

But in an alternate reality we drafted Tristan Wirfs and Justin Jefferson in the first round in 2020 and are balling out with Minshew

    want so bad.

@Dinkleberg my entirely biased opinion is you should start Minshew over Hurts. Coaches are so hamstrung by Hurts. I know he’s decent in an offense that lets him run and throw on the run but he can’t do basically anything a typical QB should be expected to do on a consistent basis.

The minute y’all face a team that can avoid being flanked by rollouts and slants / corners / digs, Hurts is entirely stumped, and all he does is pad his stats in garbage time once teams are ahead enough to back off and call soft zone

Minshew has limits too - he can’t throw hard enough to fit the ball into a tight spot if the opponent calls a good counter to your offensive playcall. But at least in that situation Minshew will protect the football and still has the improv skills to make something unexpected happen. Hurts more often than not makes fatal mistakes in those situations

Hurts and Minshew should be a tandem

yes its my tweet but I figured ya'll would appreciate this

  10. Steelers offense is a lot of quick throws and let the skill guys make plays. Minshew is mobile so behind a bad oline, he can move the pocket and do things Ben could not and mason can't. I think he'd probably fit well into Canada's offense for two years or so until they get their guy for the next ten years.

i feel like that’s a good assessment but also that Tomlin’s offense is only that way to adapt to old Ben.

i feel Tomlin would let a younger and more mobile QB hold the ball longer on some calls. If anything it just shows his versatility as a coach that he CAN play that way as long as he has talent at RB

  12. That's true Bens limitations really hurt the offense.

Just excited for a new era. I'm okay with being bad for 2-3 years as they rebuild. Though it was like 20 years between Bradshaw and Ben.

My entirely biased opinion is they should start the guy who offers way more in the run game and still has two years remaining on his contract than the guy with one year remaining who is swinging around a katana or doing something else ridiculous that makes the internet ooze over him for some reason

God Jalen Hurts fucking sucks though

I want to like him cuz he seems cool but he is not someone I'd ever want to start for my team

Neither Hurts nor Minshew are good. They are both mediocre at best at this current moment. Hurts offers the offense a higher ceiling simply from his running ability. I get that Jags fans are enamored with Minshew because he played decently for half a season, but he's not the answer. Hurts probably isn't the answer. That's fine. Give me the guy with more years remaining on his rookie contract.

I think SB Nation blogs are a joke, but I read this analysis on a whim earlier and agreed with much of it. It's a good summation of how Hurts played, both positive and negative, with plenty of film to back it up.

Or just like get and/or start a different player idk

The way the Eagles are just mortified to have a passing game with Hurts is not the answer for anything and I think in that regard Minshew is already a net positive even if he isn't better enough to make the Eagles as good as they need to be

I feel like y'all are really digging your heels in for Hurts right now

I don't think the organization is digging their heels in at all on Hurts. Howie proclaimed him the starter at his recent press conference. So what? He also described Wentz last year as one of his fingers or something absurd like that and he traded him. Howie's not gonna go up there and take a shit on Hurts when they're trying to establish a better culture than what they had there from 2018-2020.

Howie is going to evaluate his options. The dude loves Russell Wilson and he's gonna call Schneider about him. If the Eagles trade for Russ, sick. If they can't get him or Russ doesn't want to come to Philly (he has a no-trade clause), fine. Howie already said in the exact same press conference I mentioned earlier that he's open to trading one of the Eagles' first round picks this year to get another first round pick for 2023.

This is also the guy that everyone thought was 100% behind Wentz and then drafted Hurts in the second round in 2020. This organization is absolutely not digging their heels in on Hurts.

Oh I don't think the organization is digging their heels in, I think you and other Eagles fans kinda were though during the season

It'd be cool if y'all did get Wilson

I like Hurts. He's a likable dude, but I am very cognizant of the fact that he is not good. He offers a lot as a runner and I think he did a pretty good job at limiting turnovers (trust me, I know the Giants and Bucs games exist). With that said, he is absolutely limited as a passer. The arm strength is a concern and so is the processing. One of those things can be improved upon. Is it going to be improved upon enough to convince the organization that he can be the franchise QB moving forward? Probably not, but I don't have a problem rolling with Hurts for one more season and trying to address the position in 2023 if they can't properly do so this year.

The reality also is that the Eagles have been painfully mediocre since winning the super bowl. Their wins over the Giants and Washington pump their record from 2018-2021 up to around .500 when the reality is they have a losing record overall during that stretch when you remove those two teams from the equation. They are in purgatory so I would be all about trading for Russ if they can make it happen. With that said, if they're going to be in purgatory, I'd rather them be there paying Hurts and build the rest of the roster so that they can hopefully strike while the iron is hot in 2023.
