I imagine (in my head canon that doesn't matter in any way) Shad really wanted to keep Baalke and tried his hardest to change Leftwich's conditions through whatever means but knew that when push came to shove he was gonna take Leftwich anyway.

 

The understanding is the national news is Baalke leaking things because none of the local guys like or trust him.

 

i imagine that this coaching search is Baalke’s big test to see if he’s worth keeping and I hope Khan’s not too dumb to realize it’s time for him to step in and make the call

lol you also don't necessarily need to reply to everything defending them? Like, no one here is saying "the jags are dumb and randall is dumb for liking them!" lol

 

For sure it is entirely possible and that's why like, I don't think the Jaguars were ever gonna hire a different HC than Leftwich. Everything else was them trying to get Leftwich on Shad's terms. It makes a ton of sense that BOB, Eberflus, Fangio could all be tactical interviews and not real candidates.

It's funny because like, teams do this nonstop and I feel like we all have such short term memories of it. Like Flores gets fired and after 1 day of "but why" all of a sudden there's a billion reports about how toxic he is. There's probably a ton of truth behind that but it's ALSO obviously the team trying to mitigate criticism over the move.

Stuff like this happens everywhere where teams try to do things through the media to impact public opinion of their decisions and/or impact how future candidates view their decisions

Just the constant Jags doom-posting gets old. I wanna be glad we are hiring an intelligent young black coach not sitting here fantasizing about all the ways we could screw it up. I’m very well aware crazier shit has happened but I also am for obvious reasons not really as amused by all the exaggerated reports of us hiring someone else, they all blow over.
