Or how about grown fucking men stop being lazy about cleaning the kitchen because it’s a daily task that everyone has to do and it only takes MAYBE 30 minutes as long as roommates keep rotating the responsibility

 

Oh and then they do this petty shit - when i wash dishes I wash them all. When they wash dishes they only selectively wash their own and leave the other half of the mess

what the fuck is that shit, do the whole chore, like I do when I do it

I’m seriously trying to convince myself not to go knock on their doors and cuss them out because we’ve had these discussions respectfully several times before and nothing has changed

 

they’re 100% accustomed to you cleaning up after their half-assness

I agree with @Randall Mentzos . I had similar issues with roommates in college. It takes longer to clean after the fact than if you just do it right away.

i just don’t get it. I’m not asking them to do that much. I have asked them to help sweep / clean bathrooms / dust and spray + clean surfaces more often....

Guess who is the only person who’s done that stuff?

our fourth roommate who moved out was much better about the kitchen, and he cleaned the bathroom like twice and swept maybe once, other than that, that shits been all me

-I’m the one who remembers trash and recycling day,
-I’m the one who says “HEY we’re running out of paper towels / toilet paper / cleaners time to get more”,
-I’m the one who says “hey tons of food In the fridge is bad let’s throw it out and reorganize it”
-I’m the only one who’s scrubbed the fridge as well,
-I sweep,
-I scrub the counters and tables,
-I straighten up the living room
-I clean our bathroom...

these two roommates do NOTHING except half ass the dishes and take the trash out maybe twice a month. So it is INFURIATING they can’t even put effort into the one fucking thing they actually clean

 

I wouldn’t call 8-8 in an expanded format a playoff team lol

 

I lived in a four person on-campus "apartment" when I was a sophomore in college. Each guy had their own bedroom/bathroom but we shared a kitchen.

I knew two of my roommates before we moved in and we got a random roommate as the fourth. He would keep all of his dishes in his bedroom under his bed (plates/silverware/pots/pans) but use everyone else's shit. He'd leave cereal bowls and shit like that all over the apartment. He'd only wash his own dishes. Infuriating.

He'd also turn the thermostat up to like 80 degrees every night, so we'd wait for him to go to sleep and then crank it down to 62 because fuck him, that's why.

 

They were in the playoffs weren't they

And I started doing a lot less the last two weeks because 1) I’ve been busy as fuck 2) just to see if they’d notice and pick up the slack for a change

as predicted, nothing has gotten cleaned at all and I’ve even had to redo their dishes a couple times

 

Cowboys could probably get a trade for Wilson done and still have their top pick

 

yeah it would be great if I could afford that.

That’s why I’m back in college but I have to deal with *gestures vaguely* all of THIS until I graduate and it really does hurt my motivation

 

But it’s also not just on me to have to move out. I get that everyone has different standards of clean... but how LITTLE my roommates do is completely, totally unacceptable and disgusting for a grown adult. Like, we aren’t gonna frame this like this is just a “me” problem. My roommates are legitimately being rude and gross as fuck also.

When I first moved in this house was FILTHY and I was able to enlist their help to deep clean the whole thing. I was the one who took initiative and decided how to organize the cleaning process / how to de-clutter the house. But I really wanted to believe they were for real, when they said they wanted to keep up better habits, and appreciated me helping them overhaul the house.

I should have known that actions speak a lot louder than words, habits speak louder than intentions... and the house was filthy before I got here for a very good reason.

 

In college I had a roommate who would fuck with the thermostat and I went so far as to buy one of those little lockboxes to put around it so he couldn't do it anymore. I was talked out of installing it lol

 

@Randall Mentzos - Okay I started with the 2010 draft as a nice even year, and I rounded up every high-profile runner's 3rd, 5th, and 7th-year stats and if they were still with their original team by year 5 and 7. (Trent Richardson was included because two different teams invested 1st round picks in him. I'm aware he's the biggest bust but it's still an investment.)

Quick Highlights:
57% Made it through their 5th year with their original team, only one made it through their 7th and 3 are already out of the league.

Only 4 of the 19 profiled running backs saw an increase in yards in year 5 compared to year 3. Only 6 of the 19 saw an increase in attempts.


The case for investing big time in the hope of a RB's long-term tenure is....not great at least for these 7 classes.

I've only live with two people my entire adult life

my freshman year in college with a high school friend

and right now with my wife lol

always lived by myself in between

 

I don’t mind living with other people in general but be a decent human being and clean. We’re not 19 year old college students anymore. I want this house to be presentable if I ever have a guest, especially if that guest is a date or someone I’m trying to network with for my career. I also just feel more stressed and less able to focus on my work when the house is trashed. I feel like that’s normal and I’m not being picky to have certain expectations.

I can definitely see how some women get stuck in really unfair situations because of the existing chauvinism in society - a lot of dudes really don’t have it through their heads that cleaning is a DUTY, not an option, and you should be making time for it every day
