Cowboys could save a lot of money moving on from Cooper starting this offseason so I wouldn’t rule it out

 

For context, $6m in dead cap vs $16m in savings if they move on from him before March 22nd. According to Over the Cap, he has a $20m injury guarantee that vests into a full guarantee on that date

 

Cowboys are also currently $13.6m over the cap. I’m sure they can adjust some other players’ contracts via cuts, extensions, or restructures to get under, but I won’t be surprised if they move Cooper in some way to make more space for incoming moves. I’m sure they could would bring back Michael Gallup and Cedric Wilson with the $16m they’d save from moving Cooper and still have plenty left over to sign rookies and maybe another player in free agency
