Yeah he's also 24. A lot of time left to figure out what Kyler is.

I believe in this team. Prestigious

this is why so many promising QBs peak and then fade away though. In my opinion.

I totally get being like "he's young and he'll grow" in the situation where he's not hinting like "and I'm not gonna grow" over and over and over and over and

I'd have to get a good catch in with an 11 year old Kyler to have a real opinion on the matter.

Sure, but it feels like you're absolving the coaches of blame for his attitude a bit too much. It's on Kingsbury and his staff to get Kyler more focused as well. If he had this attitude while being coached by Belichick or Tomlin, it'd be an entirely different story

Does he do this? You make him sound like he's Ben Simmons lol

I've never heard one peep about Kyler's attitude until this morning so maybe I'm just unaware

I don't think that like, Kyler's the person you'll hear about creating locker room division or anything like that, but he's definitely always been coddled and never really shown any desire to grow like you see almost every other young QB do. That doesn't mean he's "bad" or will be bad but it does mean that like, I'm not gonna be holding out hope of him being a ton better until I see some tangible desire to grow.

Of course that means nothing, I'm a football fan not a team or head coach. I'm sure there's things I don't see but from a fan perspective we just gotta go off of what we do see.

Telling someone they have "rock brain level thinking" because they disagree with you is not having a real opinion on the matter.

"There's other coaches that are worse than him" really isn't either but carry on.

    The rivalry is back on

I don’t particularly like Kliff, but 11-6 (with a better point differential than Green Bay) with a NFC West schedule is a solid season and Kyler was playing at a near-MVP level before getting injured

i lean towards this season being more of a “huh, maybe he can pull this NFL thing off” than a victory lap for him actually being bad

Kingsbury was hired due to an obsession with young offensive minded coaches and he's on the wrong side of that fad.

I think this conversation is drastically overestimating how many good coaches there are lol. Like 65% of the options are bad.

Remember when you and I said Kyler probably shouldn't be the top pick ? You and I thought it was super outlandish ha.

And I know D Hop is fucking great, like top 5 great but like Kliff honestly refused to adjust to life without him. I don't know, a great coach figures it out.

Yup for sure haha. I don't claim being right on that though, I think in retrospect I was kinda dumb about the Cardinals moving on from Rosen to go straight to Kyler. I didn't like Rosen but I didn't like the principle of doing that THAT soon and I was very wrong about that. About Kyler the player though? Yeah he prob should've fallen a bit

idk, there’s Joe Judge level of bad where your coaching is an active liability, there’s Vic Fangio level of mediocrity where the coach is neither an active liability nor do they do enough to be the answer for more than a few years, and then there’s the Mike Tomlin/Andy Reid type good coaches who are there for decades of success (and above that there’s GOAT Belichick)

If the line for “good” is Reid/Tomlin, then yeah most coaches are not good (I’d call that great/elite/HOF level)

but if the line for “good” is better than Fangio level (which is where I’d put it), then you’ve got a solid half of the league there at any given year

    lol

I just think the world isn't so good/bad. He's a .500 HC. He's either not good enough to get them over the hump, holding them back, or hitting the target. We don't know which is which.

The only pure black/white opinion that is correct is that Tua stinks

I think there's probably something like 10 bad HC's, 12 decent ones, 10 good ones.

That said the Cardinals should fire Kliff. It's a lot harder to find a franchise QB than it is to find a HC that can play nice with one. FFS Zac Taylor is making it work with Burrow.

65% bad means roughly 12 good coaches. Are there more than 12 coaches anyone here would agree are "good"?

    Bill
    Reid
    Payton
    Tomlin
    Harbaugh
    Carroll
    Arians
    McVay
    Young Shanny
    Vrabel
    McDermott
    LaFleur

Honestly there are some here who i even question the goodness of but that's a debate for a different day is there anyone not included anyone here would bang the drum for

Well there aren't 32 coaches right now, how pedantic do we want to be about the good-to-bad coaches ratio

I'd say any given year that's the average, but we should be very pedantic.

It's tough, I do think there are >12 good coaches if you look at their careers but when you look at solely how they're coaching now the # drops so idk

I don't think it matters. They should fire Kliff regardless
