hahahaha you have no idea how right you are

fitting word limits is always the hardest part lmao. I hate when the grading rubric says “be concise”

what teams are you a fan of across sports? Chances are there is or was a similar guy on one of them while you rooted for them. It’d be great if enough fans collectively were able to divest from teams when they sign players and coaches with similar histories, but it just doesn’t happen. Hard to be too judgmental when that’s the case.

Nah I hope Michael Vick gets punched in the face every 10 minutes for the rest of his life.

That's fine. How old were you when the Vick story broke? How many games did he play for the Falcons after that?

I was 15, and thankfully zero.

Sorry dog, it's really easy for me to not want shitty players on my team. I stopped rooting for FSU after Winston.

  12. Where did anyone say they want shitty players on their team?

That’s great. I wish more fans were like that. But it’s a weird thing where lines can be tough to draw. It’s easy to say about Roethlisberger or Vick, but then what about the coaches and owners? Owners in general? There are fans who continue to have vested rooting interest in teams whose players have done shitty things and who are adamantly against those individuals. Plenty of female fans, too. I think the energy is best directed at owners and teams than fans in cases like that. It’s not as simple a navigation for some, even when it feels like it should be.

Unless fans are actively supporting those individuals. I’ve been in arguments about Winston and Aroldis Chapman before.

Yeah like a lot of my friends whole families / friend circles were Steeler fans, they loved winning superbowls growing up in their teens, before they had the social awareness not to just shrug their shoulders and say “he got acquitted, he must be innocent!”

So to in retrospect revise your perspective of Ben while still having a complicated close relationship with the team and your memories of winning.... I feel like all of that is normal and part of the contradiction of watching sports

I mean, if we really were “about it” on such a black - or - white degree then we’d be boycotting the NFL in general for its exploitation of race / class oriented struggles, it’s COVID response, it’s failure to earnestly address the CTE issue, the fact that in general it has done nothing about a LOT of abusers, the fact that it’s a hostile environment for women and LGBTQ+...

But the reality is that there’s layers of context to it and we are all kinda trying our best to let sports be a thing we grew up on, but also filter that through the perspective of wanting things to change from a social impact angle.

That feeling when you see a tweet, and go add it to the discussion before realizing there's an important conversation actively going on... my bad!

Yeah everything is evil. It's a very easy line for me to draw, don't abuse / endanger women, children, animals.

Fuck Kevin Spacey but I’m not gonna shame someone for putting on a Spacey movie they’ve loved for years

    etc

I do question how many Tyreek Hill’s it’s gonna be before I really stop watching though. Cause I’m not complicit with it CONTINUING TO HAPPEN

Just stop giving them money if you can. Buy a knockoff jersey, stream the games, etc.

This isn't The Good Place where everything is so inherently evil you're getting negative points.
