There needs to be some sort of cost of admission onto a bandwagon. My friend was a Panthers fan, became a lions fan because he didn’t like Cam, but is now gonna be a Panthers fan again if they get Watson. There should be laws against that kind of behavior.

CJ Beathard
Nick Mullens

 

Nick Mullens, CJ Beathard, and Blaine Gabbert are all terrible QBs that he has made look somewhat decent by accenting their athleticism and limiting the complexity of their progressions. Not saying any of those QBs were sustainable but I mean if Shanahan can polish a turd he can develop Fields.

I can imagine Fields doing a better job at what those guys did in Shanahan’s offense, because he actually is an explosive athlete not just a pretty good one. Pair that with that outside zone rushing attack and some option calls and it could be a good starting point for Fields

 

Hit that weakside B gap next time

 

Yung Shanny is an elite offensive coach. I hope San Francisco makes a move for Fields.

Did Blaine Gabbert play for Kyle Shanahan?

 

Wasn't saying that Kyle Shanahan wasn't a great coach or playcaller. I just think it's a bit overblown that he calls this fantastic offense for athletic quarterbacks when the only true dual threat he's had at QB is RG3 for about a season or so.

He's calling boots to cut the field in half. That's why the wide zone run game that his dad built is so great when it's working. It allows him to dumb down the passing game for ass QBs.

I’m confused. If a coach can minimize the complexity of a quarterbacks progressions, and take advantage of their athletic talent, why can’t fields be successful again?

 

Oh yeah, his thing is not "athletic QBs" so much as it is "QBs with legs capable of running a bootleg"

 

He had a couple years where he was subbing in a decent amount. It was the 2 years in SF before Kyle got there

 

lmao that wasn't even Gabbert I was thinking of, it was Chad Henne.

 

I have said 3 or 4 times just today that there are a few NFL coaches that can do that and still compete. It’s not many, but a few. Kyle is one of them.
