He had 28 completions against Penn State, so I'm watching it.

There's also a zone beater to the TE early where he just stares at the middle of the field until the TE gets there and stops. He doesn't even try to move the LB. It's pretty hilarious.

Let’s keep in mind that for example Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes got to sit for a year on stable, well built, competitive teams, and got to learn from very good pro quarterbacks as well as two of the best offensive coordinators of the era.

so yes, they may have had the challenge adjusting from an Air Raid offense (which often is still more complex and nuanced than what Ohio State is doing)...

but they also did NOT have other impediments that a lot of QBs deal with - namely, being thrown into the fire instantly without effective tutelage. They actually did have time to refine the concepts and iron out small details of the scheme with no pressure.

this is why I’m saying that in favorable circumstances. The right coach. A stable team. An offensive line and weapons. Fields could pan out and be awesome.

that’s a spot where I think he could flourish. Shanahan is great with mitigating athletic quarterbacks who still have a lot to learn. I think a bootleg heavy, power blocking offense like that is an ideal fit.

 

I would say the NFL easily has the leverage. ESPN has lost of a lot of momentum the last few years and there’s plenty of networks/platforms that would love to have MNF.
