its not weird it’s just, you acknowledged it and didn’t even refute when he said it, and keeps saying it... but argue with it when I say it haha

So don't respond and argue haha. Notice how Anton doesn't and therefore we don't argue about it?

i mean yeah of course but why even talk to me about players and write about them with me if you aren’t willing to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe I see things on tape too

you almost never extend me that credit

I'm really bummed out that Matt is purposefully not liking the post about me being a brilliant football mind.

That being said, Randall did like it which means I have officially won every single argument I've ever had with Randall. RUNNING BACKS ARE BAD, BAYBAY!

you actually don’t lol. You saw how little I watch it when the Jags are pissing me off and I’m over football in general. I watched by far less football last season when we lived in ATL than I do every other season. Literally every other year than last year I’ve paid much more attention

It’s funny how I have to either admit that you are right, or use the one example of a true workhorse RB I am most salty about - Derrick Henry

it’s also hilarious you got the W on the Leonard Fournette argument... and then AFTER THAT he’s a playoff / Super Bowl hero lol

If you haven’t used it that’s one thing but I definitely have every week

All 22 for college unfortunately isn’t available. I’d pay hundreds for it if it was

Like. If they were like “for 699.99 you can have access to all the college tape the pros are watching!” I’d be saving up 699.99

BUT at least some college broadcasts give you a further away angle and they’re starting to experiment with camera angles that go behind the QB

    more of that please

    The rivalry is back on

I hear what you’re saying, agree that this is an important skill, but just question that judging the college system is a good way of going about determining whether the QB is going to be able to pick up a pro-style offense and really don’t think there’s a ton of correlation between playing a pro-level system in college and developing into an above-average QB

I pulled up the first draft profiles I could find on all of the MVP candidate QBs (Watson, Mahomes, Rodgers, Allen) and literally every single one of them listed arm strength as a major pro and literally every single one of them called them a system QB and/or questioned their ability to read pro-style offenses as a con. Maybe there’s something different about Ohio St that has more nuance and that breaks this trend and there’s *almost certainly* some sort of additional scrutiny teams need to go through to make their own determinations on whether or not they can pick up an offense that none of us will be privy to, but “dude has the arm talent but is in a one read offense” is so general and non-specific to the prospect himself that I really don’t like it as a negative qualifier on Fields

Yeah I learned my lesson with Allen and Herbert. Never writing off a guy for not doing something he wasn't asked to do.

There's multiple options on every pass attempt for him, but he can't get to them. He locks in #1 and it's over. He's not even reading half the field. It's pretty bad.

I see a lot of "but look at this throw he made" when he's outside of the pocket. That's just him making something happen off-script, which is fine but that stuff isn't going to be there in the NFL.

This is not me saying he can't read a defense. He just doesn't and that's my biggest concern.

no ones writing anybody off haha I’m just saying there are tons of players in that vein who don’t pan out as well, we just don’t talk about them

    His time is coming....

Since he didn't start for the first two years, and even the third year he split carries with Dion Lewis, his cliff was pushed out a bit but boy is it coming...

Also in fairness to my RB argument, he's not even in his 6th season yet, which would be the start of his second contract if he was a first-round pick, which kinda still fits my narrative.

We do though haha. We talk about them a lot when it's happening. And usually they're guys that were bad before the NFL.

    Also, no ones blaming him.

like, Ohio State could leave him unprepared for the NFL and it not be his fault and he applies 100% of himself and his effort to learn as much as he can, but the system was just limited and it slowed that process.

you can do everything right and still not make it as a QB in the NFL. The NFL’s hard. It’s not saying Fields isn’t a really smart dude, a really hard worker, an amazing athlete with amazing potential. It’s just saying that everything has to “click”, everything has to go just right, in order for a great college QB to pan out. And coming from a system offense - which is a lot of college teams - is a not-insignificant additional barrier to be overcome. It’s something common that just sucks because college coaches are more interested in winning than developing the careers of their players.

Fields could still be great all I’m saying is the lack of experience with it increases the risk significantly.
