  1. Teddy’s deal is basically for one more year. So it’s not detrimental. Also, he might be a little overpaid but he’s still like 17-20 range on the list of QB salaries. And he’s probably around 20-25 on the rankings for starters.

I agree if they can get another QB for 3m then sure. But Teddy’s contract is not nearly as bad as it’s been made out to be.

  2. Like, who cares if Houston has to pay Teddy that for one season. What else are they going to be spending it on? They aren’t going to be free agency players this year so it seems like a minor issue to me.

  3. Also, if they don’t want Teddy then I don’t think it kills a deal either.

Keeping Will Fuller. Extending a younger player who might otherwise be pissed to sit on back to back garbage teams and want out. Or hell, simply rolling it over to 2022.

If they took on Bridgewater today in a Watson trade, they'd go from $10mil under the cap to $12mil over. Meaning they suddenly have to free up space with restructures and cuts that hurt them in 2022 as well, and they get....the 20-25th best QB in the league for it? Versus staying under the cap, offering Andy Dalton $5mil/yr, and also getting the 25th best QB in the league.

I agree; just more giving the perspective that, unless HOU really loves him (which, they're bad at this stuff, so they might), he's a net negative, not a positive.

And if HOU likes him, then its easy to roll his contract into the future via restructure, etc. But like @CarpetElf said, wanting a QB in this at a price isnt really smart

I don't think the Dolphins are going to be trading for Watson

I think it will be Jets or Panthers

I hope it’s the Panthers lol

I'll 100% come off as hypocritical on this as the guy who was fine offering a 1st rounder for Carson Wentz when his contract is just as much of an albatross relative to his skill as Bridgewater's is; but, I was also arguing that for teams trying to contend. HOU aint contending.

Miami did it exactly right with Fitzpatrick as a team knowing they were gonna suck (though I suspect they didnt see 10-6 in 2020). Pay a veteran 2/$11mil to fill a spot, hope he overperforms, and if he doesnt...you get the high pick you need to take a young QB anyway.

I dont want the NYJ; team isnt good and maybe Saleh pans out, but, there's bigger issues there and fuck Woody Johnson. Same vibe for the WFT; because it'd redeem Snyder when he hasnt had to repent for any of his shit.

I'm down with CAR cause Id love to see that offense and maybe it takes out Brady. I'm down with MIA because a MIA + BUF led division takes out NE. Also, give me Deshaun to ATL cause him throwing to Julio, Ridley, etc sounds fun as hell to watch. And honestly, give me San Fran for the pure chaos of the NFC West being so damn stacked...like, Rams go all in and might still finish 4th in the division?

  9. If we’re doing percentages I’d say Carolina is still like...15%? I don’t know lol there’s just too many factors to make it any higher. It’s hard to predict on top of two teams having higher picks.

I actually think CAR odds are better than NYJ. Both because CAR is seemingly screaming out they want the trade (and thus will pay more), and because the Jets should honestly feel like one of the QBs in this draft is a smarter play.

I believe in this team. Prestigious

@preppyak i agree that Miami’s offer will be bigger and by all means they should be the team that ends up with Watson. I just would not be surprised if they didn’t wanna pay a LOT for Watson when they could easily be sustainably competitive without him from where they stand right now. And in that scenario, the Panthers might go balls to the wall and offer something no one else was offering lol

The Jets can offer the Texans the guarantee of the second best QB prospect in the draft. That's the biggest asset anyone can offer them right now.

Tepper might offer more picks over time, but that won't help Houston right now.

I do think it will likely come down to the Jets and the Panthers though. Miami is the dark horse because of the ammo they have.

Yeah and Miami is the best of those teams already.

fwiw, I'd rather have the Jets pick and it has nothing to do with QB. I'd take Sewell and ask the Jets for Darnold.

I’d rather have Tua and #3 than Darnold and #2 and I’d rather have Tua and #3 over Zach Wilson.

I want no part of Tua, I guess I’d rather have the Dolphins pick though because Tua might be easier to flip.

    The rivalry is back on

I don’t think you get to hire a HC this cycle and then use “we don’t have our HC” as your defense for roster moves

ARob basically said hes not going to a team without a franchise QB who is ready to make a run.

Wonder what he considers franchise and ready. LAC? Miami?

while I love ARob, I don't see Miami throwing out $20 million/year for a guy who is very similar to Parker
