  2. I don’t plan to buy lol I’m just considering it because USC will provide tuition reimbursement if I work at one of their facilities. So it’s temporary I suppose.

I mean, buying in CA is absurd, but rental prices are also through the roof. Still would rather own than throw money away on rent, especially when real estate prices out there don’t show signs of slowing down

  7. Get a job that is always remote and live wherever you want. Should be possible for you @Randall Mentzos I feel like a lot of people in your field work from home

ik theoretically it saves u money in the long run but i cant really see myself buying till i retire and fuck off to somewhere lowkey. i dunno i might just be so used to moving around the idea of ball and chaining myself to a place just seems like a scary gamble

If the house I own gets burned down or washed in a mudslide I gotta deal with that shit a lot more than if my rental does.

Yeah, we might here once our lease is up.

  12. No way you can refinance a second time and it be worth it. You need to shave off like another point.

we're selling this place and getting a single family home once my wife finishes getting her Master's and gets a job

  14. Just had an interview today with Misfits Market. They are a mail order veggie service that sells "ugly" produce that is fine just looks weird. Helps reduce food waste and they source from sustainable organic farms.

We bought our house in May and are refinancing right now a whole percentage point lower. Its pretty nuts, cause rates were pretty low when be bought.

Home insurance my man; my brothers house apparently had terrible duct work done...all the vents went into the crawl space under the house instead of venting outside, and it was graded to basically create a pool under his house...so his flooring rotted and molded through.

Insurance is repairing it all and paying for the place he's living at for the several months the repairs take. Your rental burns down, you get out of your lease and thats it

yeah we went from 4.75% (bought in 2017) down to 3.25% over the summer and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket

    saving ~$250/month on payments

Though, home maintenance chores are annoying and real and I do miss having the maintenance people at the apartment complex. But its a trade-off that's worth it.

Its down to like 2.5-2.75%, but yeah, cant imagine its worth it for you to do it again right now.

    there is one way out

We just closed on our refinancing last week. And took out $20,000 for some improvement projects and still have a lower monthly payment. Ca-Ching.

ya we were going to take cash out but we should make like $50-60k on our place when we sell next year based on property values right now which will be awesome

    there is one way out

Our property values have gone up like 75% since we bought our house. So we should still make a nice profit when we sell down the road.

    The rivalry is back on

On the one hand, I’m glad to be making a solid profit on my house when we sell in a couple months

On the other hand, I’m not glad to have to take that money and put it into a different, more expensive house
