I don't have allergies so I don't mind it

I just hate the snow

but I also hate the extreme heat

basically my favorite months are April/May and September/October

Yeah, was just gonna say, in PG County your house would be about $5500 property taxes. I'd bet Howard County is lower cause of all the nimby-ism up there. Montgomery can go either way.

One of the things that is easy to forget is that in a rich/whiter area, the actual drain on services is way lower. You dont need as many cops, etc, so they can actually funnel all the property taxes to the school

 

LA seems like such a uniquely miserable and terrific experience all at once. If I had to pick a mega metro to live in itd be that one

 

LA is a place I possibly end up after I graduate.

Idk why I’m doing this, but,

Metros -

-only visit: San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, St Louis, Houston, Dallas, Memphis, Orlando, Detroit, Cincinnati, Cleveland

-Airbnb’s 3-6 months while teleworking, for the experience: NYC, Miami, Nashville, San Diego, Los Angeles

-live in a sublet for 6-9 months, longer experience: Boston, Honolulu, Tampa

-live in for a year and see if I could handle it: Chicago, Minneapolis, Columbus, Las Vegas

-live in for 3 years and see if I am comfortable long term: Seattle, Austin, Pittsburgh, Portland, Charlotte, New Orleans (I have so much family there)

-live in for 5 years and then move to the suburbs when I have kids: DC, Philadelphia

-best bang for buck, most comfortable place for me to live in long term and plan a practical retirement: ATL

That’s about how I’d put it. If London UK... Berlin DE... or Melbourne AU... or Vancouver / Calgary CA became an option those would be on the list too.

 

So like the first 3 tiers is places I’d wanna get lucky enough to travel to and exist in for a little while.

Then the next two tiers is cities I like a LOT of things about and am curious about, but have comfort barriers with them (such as Seattle’s 9 months of grey / very high cost, or New Orleans being fucked by global warming / industrial pollution, or what if Austin is already too gentrified and ruined despite all the great things about it)

then the bottom two tiers is realistically where I’ll end up all factors considered.

Idk I’m just excited I’m getting through college and I’m gonna have options man

never know where you’re gonna end up until you get offered that really good job... so it’s kind of a ranking of how open I am to each place

its called ADHD, and admittedly sometimes this thread is an outlet for my random fixations haha

if it genuinely annoys everybody I’ll stop but I just kinda always felt you can just scroll past and not like any post you don’t wanna read. I also personally love it when y’all show personality and talk about your lives and aspirations as well.
