Possible Ortiz could miss, I'm guessing he's safe at that % but unreported could possibly be a big drop for him too

 

so next year is just gonna be Rolen and maaaybe Helton huh. Bonds and Clemens if they miss this year

Yeah I feel like usually the ones that aren’t reported are the writers that have that old school “I’m not voting for a player on their first year ever because Babe Ruth didn’t get 100% of the votes” non sense and/or are anti DH etc.

 

I don’t think Rolen is a slam dunk for next year. Will be interesting to see what his % is after all the votes are counted.

I bet Billy Wagner sees a big vote jump next year though, don’t think he will be elected yet but it looks like he’s trending that way.

Not sure Rolen gets in next year. Beltran is the only new addition next year with a chance so that may help Rolen at least

Next year is Kent's last year on the ballot. It feels like he's been on it for 18 years lol

I also think they should just induct players like Bonds and such, but also have a whole section on the steroid era that is informational for visitors and just sort of owns the history. I think most people can walk and chew gum. We can acknowledge the cheating aspect while also understanding it was widespread and normalized by the league. That era happened to be pretty influential and memorable for a lot of people. Probably not a perfect option bc it could glorify the era, but I think there is a way to do it that’s better than pretending it never happened.

 

All that needs to be said is Bud Selig is in the Hall. So how is anybody that thrived under him not in?
