Bounce mcneil somewhere, jd davis too. Re-sign villar for 3B depth/dh

 

Trick someone into taking canos $48mil remaining contract

 

Feel kind of meh on the Escobar signing. Kind of replaces Villar as a utility guy but obviously doesn't move the needle very much. It's fine as a first move but if that's all they're adding to the infield, that's a problem

 

I was hoping for bryant, lindor, mcneil and pete.

Eduardo is fine. Is he replacing villar? Eh. Why not just keep villar then.

 

So the Rays will be getting a different old guy pitcher or 2 it seems, but will hopefully fix those ones

 

I don't know if that's the Mets' interpretation of it, but I see Escobar playing a similar role with similar numbers as Villar next year (102 OPS+ for Villar vs. a 109 for Escobar). I'm not upset about it because Escobar is decent and that's probably a fair deal, but I still probably would have preferred just to bring back Villar on a one year deal

 

man i so would prefer mcneil not be on the team next season. I guess i just don't see what others do in him. Just cannot stand the guy and he never comes up big.
